The Manufacturing Agribusiness and Services (MAS) group is one of IFCโs key Departments responsible for a significant portion of IFCโs business volume, profitability and development reach. MAS engages in a wide range of sub-sectors including health, education, housing, tourism, agriculture, animal protein, forestry, chemicals, automotive, etc.
MAS is seeking to hire an Extended Term Consultant (ETC) based in Vienna, Austria. The ETC will assist the EUR VPU in investment and upstream-related activities in order to expand the pipeline for investment projects.
Duties and Accountabilities:
ย The ETC will be integrated into the team that develops new business, structures transactions, and supervises a portfolio of loans, quasi-equity and equity investments in MAS sectors in countries in EUR.
The candidate is required to know and effectively use fundamental business concepts and practices and to provide analytical, research and other professional support. The work program is varied and may be somewhat complex requiring evaluation, original thinking and various written outputs.
The ETCs will engage in the following activities.
โข Perform financial and operational analyses of companies in various industrial and service sectors.
โข Develop financial models, or work with existing ones, as needed, to track historical financial performance and generate projected statements for forward-looking analysis.
โข Prepare documentation for IFC internal processes, including investment proposals, modifications to existing IFC investments, and periodic portfolio reports and credit ratings.
โข Perform valuations on equity investments and derivative instruments.
โข Liaise with colleagues across departments, across the region and at the head office in Washington DC.
โข Conduct AI-driven mapping of stakeholders and investment opportunities.
โข Apply AI tools to analyse market trends, supply chains, and climate risks.
โข Use AI platforms to generate insights that improve IFCโs business development, upstream and advisory strategies.
โข Support integration of AI into investment analysis and client engagement processes.
โข Execute ad hoc tasks as requested by the Industry Managers or the Regional Industry Director.
Selection Criteria
โข Masterโs or equivalent degree with specialization in business, finance, accounting, economics, etc. with an outstanding academic record.
โข Preferably with at least 2 years of experience in finance, banking, portfolio management or consulting.
โข Sound numerical, analytical and conceptual skills encompassing finance and the associated areas of investment, portfolio management and corporate finance and economics.
โข Strong financial analysis and modelling skills using Microsoft excel and ability to identify key issues.
โข Commitment to economic development and keen interest in development finance in emerging markets.
โข Ability to work successfully in multicultural teams and across boundaries.
โข Demonstrated teamwork skills.
โข Strong client service orientation with an openness to feedback and new ideas.
โข Demonstrated ability to work with AI tools and platforms, and to apply AI insights to investment analysis and upstream/advisory work.
