POSITION TITLE: Driver NUMBER OF VACANCIES: One LOCATION: Lilongwe, Malawi REPORTS TO: Operations Director POSITION DESCRIPTION: Winrock International is recruiting for the position of driver for a 5-year activity to improve water The Market Transitions to Enable New Growth Opportunities (MTENGO) project is a five year, USDA-funded project implemented by Winrock International in the Northern and Central regions of Malawi. MTENGO uses a farmer-first approach grounded in market incentives to increase resource-efficient, reliable production from Malawian agriculture. MTENGOโs approach will enable farmers to: Diversify and achieve stable returns from their farming portfolio through climate smart farming by responding to market demands with diversified production; Increase access to water for productive purposes through improved water management practices; Make ecosystem services work for farmers by improving farmer access to, and collective management of, water, soil, and forest products; and Increase access to markets and finance so farmers can make climate smart investments. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide project-related transportation services for staff and authorized visitors using the project vehicle; Transport project equipment and supplies, as needed; Be familiar with and follow all applicable driving laws and rules of Malawi; Ensure project vehicle is in good working order through regular maintenance and daily checks of oil, fuel, coolant, etc.; Record information on each journey in vehicle log book, including daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, etc.; Responsible for the internal and external cleaning of the vehicle; Perform miscellaneous Project errands and messaging services out of the office; Perform other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Professional driving experience, preferably for an international organization; Experience with basic vehicle maintenance and with driving in the Lilongwe metropolitan area, as well as in rural areas; Knowledge of Rumphi, Mzimba, Ntchisi, and Nhkata Bay regions is a plus; Valid driverโs license and continuous safe driving record; Experience in driving 4x4 vehicles offroad; Must be able to work overtime hours and to travel for extended periods of time outside of Lilongwe, as needed; Excellent written and spoken English skills.
