To implement this vision, UN Environment Haiti is structured around two fundamental programs and interconnected in the country, and has two offices in the territory. At the national level, UN Environment has an Environmental Governance Support Program, managed by the Port au Prince office. This Program aims to support the development of the country's environmental sector by strengthening environmental governance. At the sub-national level, UN Environment has a Sustainable Development Support Program in the Great South of Haiti which is managed by the office of Port Salut, main office located in the Department of the South of the country. The latter is focused on field work, the identification of good environmental practices, their implementation and replication with an integrated vision of regional planning and decentralization. The services of a driver is needed for the office at the South/Les Cayes to carry out field activities. Under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant, and overall supervision of Senior Programme Manager, the temporary Driver will be responsible for the following work assignments, which directly contribute to the logistical and operational success of field and administrative activities: Provide reliable and safe driving services for the transportation of authorized personnel or sensitive equipment. The Driver must have a positive attitude towards the personnel and any other person authorized to be transported. He must demonstrate a high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different nationalities and different cultural backgrounds. 1. Provide safe and reliable driving services for personnel, consultants, and project partners The driver will ensure the timely and secure transportation of UNEP staff, consultants, and authorized personnel to various field sites, training venues, and coordination meetings. This includes long-distance travel to rural and mountainous areas within the South and Grand'Anse departments. The driver must strictly follow safety protocols and demonstrate professionalism and discretion. โ€ข Regular and punctual completion of transportation assignments, as recorded in the vehicle logbook. 2. Maintain accurate vehicle usage logs and reports The driver is required to complete a daily logbook documenting vehicle usage details such as trip purpose, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or mechanical observations. This logbook must be submitted weekly or as requested for administrative review. โ€ข Accurate, up-to-date vehicle logbook, submitted in a timely manner. 3. Perform daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance Before each trip, the driver must inspect the vehicle's condition, including fluid levels, brakes, lights, tires, and battery. The driver is responsible for reporting any issues and coordinating scheduled maintenance or emergency repairs with the administrative team. โ€ข Vehicle remains in good working condition, with minimal downtime due to proactive maintenance. 4. Support UNEP field missions in remote locations The driver will provide transport support to technical teams during field visits, environmental assessments, community meetings, and resilience data collection. This may include navigating difficult roads, assisting with logistics, and ensuring the safety of equipment and passengers. โ€ข Reliable transportation to and from mission sites, enabling smooth execution of field activities. 5. Facilitate logistical support tasks In addition to driving duties, the driver will assist with transporting official documents, delivering or collecting mail and equipment, and providing logistical support during special events or emergency mobilizations. This may include assistance at customs, airports, or partner Qualifications/special skillsSecondary education is required. Driving license is required. Passing the driving test given and authorized by UNOPS officials is an asset. Two (2) years of experience as a driver is required and a good track record of driving an asset; Knowledge of traffic laws and ability to carry out minor car repairs. Languagesโ€ข Excellent command of oral and written Creole is mandatory. Fluency in French is required. Additional InformationNot available.
