5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Mission and objectivesThe fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does โ€” in programs, in advocacy and in operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to childrenโ€™s rights into action. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have an opportunity to survive, develop and reach their full potential, without discrimination, bias or favouritism. To the degree that any child has an unequal chance in life โ€” in its social, political, economic, civic and cultural dimensions โ€” her or his rights are violated. There is growing evidence that investing in the health, education, hygiene/sanitation and protection of a societyโ€™s most disadvantaged citizens โ€” addressing inequity โ€” not only will give all children the opportunity to fulfil their potential but also will lead to sustained growth and stability of countries. This is why the focus on equity is so vital. It accelerates progress towards realizing the human rights of all children, which is the universal mandate of UNICEF, as outlined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, while also supporting the equitable development of nations.

ContextUNICEF Mozambique has prioritized digital learning as a flagship initiative to transform the education sector. The focus is on: โ€ข Providing multiple and flexible pathways to learning. โ€ข Improving the quality of teaching and learning. โ€ข Strengthening sector management and accountability. Mozambique faces significant education challenges: although many children enroll in school, only two-thirds complete primary education, and just one in four completes secondary school. Even among those who attend, many lack essential skills for personal development and employability. To address this, UNICEF is leading a digital learning agenda through: 1. Introducing digital learning in schools to enhance teaching and learning outcomes. 2. Developing an integrated digital ecosystem to guide adolescents and youth on their journey from learning to earning. Two flagship platforms are under development: โ€ข Learning Passport: Supporting formal, in-school learning. โ€ข Maza: Providing individualized pathways for adolescents and youth to build 21st-century skills, including green, digital, transferable, and employability skills. UNICEF seeks a Digital Learning Specialist to support in leveraging technology to transform education. This includes the design, adaptation, and delivery of interactive, inclusive, and contextually relevant digital content, aligned with national standards, pedagogy, and the needs of adolescents and youth. The UNV will work under the guidance and general supervision of the Digital Learning Specialist and the Chief of Education,
