To strategize and execute social media and digital communication content for increased gender visibility during international campaigns such as International Women`s Day International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) and World Tsunami Awareness Day and website content for the Regional Office of the Americas and the Caribbean, ensuring global and regional alignment. Work LocationHome-based Expected duration01.06.25 - 31.08.25 Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties and Responsibilities Created in December 1999, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the designated focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of efforts to reduce disasters and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations and regional organizations and activities in both developed and less developed countries. Led by the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG), UNDRR has over 150 staff located in its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and in regional offices. Specifically, UNDRR guides, monitors, analyses, and reports on progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, supports regional and national implementation of the Framework and catalyzes action, and increases global awareness to reduce disaster risk by working with the U.N. Member States and a broad range of partners and stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians, and the science and technology community. The consultant will be home-based and will be under the supervision of the Public Information Assistant in close collaboration with the External Relation Officer, of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean. The consultant will develop: 1. Social Media Content Planning and Production for the Regional Office of the Americas and the Caribbean Content Planning: - Develop a detailed monthly plan and calendar for the implementation of regional social media content on X, Facebook and LinkedIn. Content Production: - Curate and publish fifteen (15) regional stories in English and Spanish across relevant platforms (5 per month). Digital Assets Creation: - Translate to Spanish and adapt sixty (60) social media cards to ROAC social media channels (LinkedIn, X and Facebook) (20 per month). - Design and deliver thirty 30 social media cards in Spanish to be used in ROAC social media channels (LinkedIn, X and Facebook) (10 per month). Video Production: - Curate footage, prepare scripts and support editing of four (4) LAC Women interview videos. - Quality check for the videos produced externally for LAC Women Network. Social Media Channels Reporting: - Develop a comprehensive report detailing monthly results, including reach, engagement metrics, and content performance. Partnerships: - Strengthen partnerships with stakeholders: o Coordinate with the UNIC office in Brazil and the Caribbean the curatorship, adaptation and publication of UNDRR assets, and develop a comprehensive report to showcase the results of both partnerships. o Coordinate with UN Women and UNDRR HQ the adaptation and translation of assets focused on gender. - Develop and implement a newsletter to increase media journalists' support for DRR themes, highlighting the work of partner networks focused on gender, Indigenous and youth. 2. Social Media Content Planning and Implementation of International Campaigns Campaign Planning: - Develop a detailed plan and calendar for implementing each campaign, which should be aligned with the global calendar on X, Facebook, and LinkedIn. - Liaise with the global team to ensure content coherence. Content Production: - Adapt global campaign content for International Womenยดs Day, International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction and World Tsunami Awareness Day, 16 Days of Activism. - Translate and publish campaign webpages from English to Spanish. Regional Adaptation: - Adapt social media assets to ensure they are engaging for the regional audience. Digital Assets Creation: - Produce, translate and adapt social media assets and website content for each campaign: - Thirty (30= social media cards. - Ten (10) videos. Bilingual Website content optimization: - Develop an Action plan with recommendations for bilingual coherence and content performance improvement. - Consultation with UNDRR Web team to define a calendar and implement the approved recommendations. - Creation of fifteen (15) event pages in both English and Spanish Qualifications/special skillsA first-level university degree in marketing, digital communication, or communications is required. Three (3) years of working experience in social media management are required. Copywriting, editing, and design experience, including experience editing videos (Adobe Suite package) are required. Experience with Google Analytics, tracking and reporting quantitative social media analytics, and qualitative social media analytics is required. Experience with Drupal multi-domain and Hootsuite multi-domain environments, as well as video editing for social media is desirable. Working experience in DRR in the Americas and the Caribbean within UN system or any other similar international organization is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
