General Position Summary The Deputy Director, Corporate Partnerships is responsible for strategic partnership development and fundraising in support of Mercy Corpsโ€™ global operations. The Deputy Director will support the Directors of Corporate Partnership as well as Directors and Senior Directors across the Development Team as appropriate in fulfilling the daily operations required for successful partnership, with a focus on strategic support and thought partnership as well as partnership elements or opportunities that support relationship management, increase awareness and giving from employee audiences and raise strategic funds. The successful candidate will have relationship management experience, an understanding of industry trends in corporate social responsibility, and a successful track record of securing philanthropic gifts. Provide thought partnership as well as business development, stewardship, communications and grants management support to a portfolio of top tier strategic corporate partnerships. Collaborate with program operations to match key program needs with potential corporate funders. Write/edit and/or project manage the development of concepts, proposals, reports, pitch decks, updates and stewardship materials. Coordinate with internal stakeholders including program representatives and leadership, the Technical Support Unit, regional desk officers, mass market fundraising, finance officers, employee and matching gifts, marketing and communications to ensure that corporate donor relationships are successful. Develop and implement personalized communication and stewardship plans for key corporate partnerships as needed. In partnership with Directors and Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving Senior Officer, develop and implement employee engagement strategies to drive awareness and increase unrestricted support through workplace giving. INFLUENCE & REPRESENTATION Maintain a comprehensive understanding of key corporate partnerships in order to represent the companies and partnership strategies to internal and external stakeholders and provide business continuity when the Director is traveling or otherwise unavailable. Manage the implementation of projects that support corporate partnerships, including donor meetings, profile elevating events, campaigns and communications to ensure donor satisfaction and increase the probability of ongoing support. Effectively represent Mercy Corps in donor meetings and communications. Supervisory Responsibility The Deputy Director, Corporate Partnerships has no supervisory responsibility. Accountability Reports Directly To: Director, Corporate Partnership Development and Engagement Works Directly With: Senior Director, Deputy Directors and Directors of Corporate Partnerships; the Foundations Partnerships team; Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and Philanthropy; Director of Strategic Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships; Director of Communications; Senior Communications Officer; other departments within Development department; key stakeholders in Brand Marketing and Communications; Technical Support Unit, program teams and leadership in over 40 countries. Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. Minimum Qualifications and Transferable Skills Proven ability to manage projects and competing priorities. 5+ years increasingly responsible work in corporate fundraising, corporate social responsibility or corporate sales strongly preferred. Successful track record managing donor relationships and securing donations in support of social impact work. Strong oral and written communications skills. Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills. Ability to work across diverse teams to develop and execute strategy for successful partnership experience and engagement. Understanding of the corporate decision making process. Understanding of international aid and development strongly preferred. Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions The position is U.S. based, open to remote. Most of the team is based in Portland, OR. Mercy Corps team members represent the agency both during and outside work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting.
