DUTIES:ย 

ย Co-design tricot on farm and consumer testing trials and manage tricot data collection in ClimMob through the use of farmer guides and ODK phone/tablet data collections apps with the aim to do improved on farm testing for variety release and to generate gender/socially inclusive feedback from crop users along the value chain to inform breeding. Help in promoting and adapting the tricot approach as an improved way of doing on farm testing for variety release. Carry out fieldwork within communities and link qualitative data collected within tricot communities to quantitative tricot data. Carry out a pilot study on drivers of use and diffusion of varieties evaluated through tricot trials within communities and the social impact of such trials. Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION:

BSc/HND in Social Science, Rural Extension or related field with a minimum of three (3) years\u2019 experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment with strong interest in combining qualitative and quantitative methods and strong capacity in data management.

COMPETENCIES:

The ideal candidate must:

Have a socially/gender inclusive focus and thorough knowledge of rural extension and rural sociology. Have hands on experience in working with and updating the ClimMob online data storage and analysis platform. Be experienced in implementing the tricot approach in the field. Be familiar with and passionate about gender issues in agriculture and be willing to integrate these into the tricot approach, its data management and related research. Be creative, independent, and experienced in data management. Have strong interest in combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Have a strong passion to work with small and medium scale farmers and think about ways to improve their livelihood.
