Join a team of 10 people in charge of maintenance, gas logistics, and deployment of methodologies for the cryogenics group at CERN!

After a period of training, you will take on responsibility, on the ground, for maintenance of complex cryogenic systems: troubleshooting, maintenance program, technical support, and follow-up of industrial support contractor activities. You will also participate in the preparation of recurrent annual technical stops and Long Shutdowns (the next due to start in 2026).

This is a unique opportunity to work on machines that constitute nearly half the world's stock of large helium liquefiers. It is a complex and inspiring place to work.

As a Cryogenics Maintenance Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:

• Contribute to the improvement of high availability of large cryogenics industrial equipment critical for accelerators, detectors, test benches & CERN infrastructure;

• Built your experience in industrial support service contract follow-up and management;

• Broaden your knowledge of advanced Computerized Maintenance Management Systems and associated Information Technology developments and applications for cryogenic systems;

• Integrate a multinational team with a range of skills and expertise;

• Receive specific training and support for your professional development.

Who we are looking for

Skills and/or knowledge

Industrial Maintenance of large cryogenics equipment, Safety culture, Industrial support Contractor's management, Computerized Maintenance Management System;Fluent in French, the ability to work in English would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State;You have a professional background in Engineering (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience;You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

This position requires:

Work in Radiation Areas;Interventions in underground installations;A valid driving licence;Stand-by duty, when required by the needs of the Organization;Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.

A monthly stipend ranging between 6194 and 6808 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax).Coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.30 days of paid leave per year.On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French.
