ACAPS is looking for an experienced content-editor to contribute to quality improvement in the analysis production process. ย Only applicants with in-depth knowledge of the humanitarian system, English as mother-tongue and registered consultant will be considered.ย
Starting date: ASAP/ 1 February 2024
Duration: 8 months, extendable. Available on request, about one or two days per week (flexible).
Payment: Monthly invoice and timesheet with actual number of hours.ย
Purpose of the position
Supervised by Quality Assurance Coordinator, this role is to provide in-depth content-review services to ACAPS, and contribute to quality improvement in the analysis production process.ย
Main tasks and responsibilitiesย
Generic responsibilities
Specific tasks related to content-editing
Liaise regularly with the QA coordinator who allocates requests for content-editing. Review products and visual elements for narrative flow, consistency, and accuracy. Suggest improvements to content by identifying gaps, outdated information, missing explanations, structural issuesโฆ Exchange with the analysis team/authors to resolve any inconsistency or ambiguity. ย Be available to discuss and amend any corrections after submitting the content-editing. ย Liaise with other editors (language and content) in order to consolidate views and harmonize approaches. Track the time spent on each report on the AirTable dedicated baseSpecific tasks related to the quality assurance process
Help update the QA tools and frameworks such as the CAF, editorial lines, style guide, glossaries etc in order to ensure consistency in ACAPS style and contents. Support briefing and training upon request Advise ACAPS QA Coordinator on quality challenges and steps for improvementOther duties
Deliverables
The Content Editor is supporting all analysis units across the organisation. The required support, deliverables and number of hours will be agreed with each Product Manager and the QA coordinator.
Skills and qualifications ย
Academic background / Diploma
Master degree level, preferably in International Development, Humanitarian Action, International relations or equivalentExperience
In-depth knowledge of the humanitarian system, architecture and stakeholders Several years of experience in humanitarian projects management, in-country At least five years of experience in humanitarian analyses Experience editing technical or research papers Experience in Quality Assurance is a plus (designing tools, capacity building, training)Language
