DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the SO/WIGOS/I and in close coordination with the project manager for CREWS ASW DRC/TCG the consultant will provide training in the maintenance of AWS with the following key responsibilities:

1. Deliver training in French, combining theoretical and practical sessions aligned with the defined training objectives across the following modules:
- Fault diagnosis and trouble shooting.
- Installation and optimization.
- Methods for developing procedure manuals and maintenance plans.
- Maintenance tools and software.
- Introduction to metrology including the International Vocabulary of Metrology (VIM), methods for uncertainty computation, and traceability to the international chain.
- Practical demonstration on sensors calibration.

2. Assess participants' practical competencies to identify areas for improvement and guide them toward full mastery of the subject matter.

3. Design and develop comprehensive and context-appropriate training materials.

4. Provide open-source tools enabling participants to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training.

5. Develop an operational manual for AWS maintenance and a detailed training report summarizing content delivered, participant performance, and recommendations for future capacity development.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in engineering, hydrology, meteorology, instrumentation, or a related technical field.

- Proven experience in training delivery, particularly in technical capacity building related to environmental monitoring, instrumentation, or hydrometeorological systems.

Experience
- A minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience on instrumentation, Installation or maintenance of stations.

- Proven experience in delivering training on calibration or in conducting weather sensors calibration.

- Proven ability to design and deliver training programs that effectively combine theoretical and practical learning.

Other requirements
- Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

- Familiarity with open-source tools and digital resources for technical training and field applications.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of French (spoken and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the WMO Secretariat is an advantage.

Proposed fee: 390-560 USD per day, depending upon experience, knowledge and skills.
