DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the SO/ACS services department and the support of the project manager for CREWS Central Africa and CREWS ASW DRC/TCG the consultant will provide training in French on agrometeorology related activities, with the overall goal of improving the development of climate forecasts for agricultural purposes, using appropriate or recommended tools. This will include the following:
1. Deliver theoretical and practical training sessions on the following aspects of agrometeorological data:
- Collection, quality control, and processing of agro-meteorological data;
- Statistical analysis of agro-meteorological data;
- Conduct introductory training on open-source tools for use in agrometeorological services.
2. Introduce the access and use of agrometeorological products available from satellites.
3. Conduct introductory training on tools for the mapping and presentation of agrometeorological information.
4. Prepare a final training report summarizing content delivered, participant performance, and recommendations for future capacity development. QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in engineering, agrometeorology, hydrology, meteorology, applied meteorology or a related technical field.
- Proven experience in training delivery, particularly in technical capacity building related to agrometeorological monitoring or hydrometeorological systems.
Experience
- A minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience on the use of tools and products for agrometeorological, sub-seasonal or seasonal forecasting.
- Proven ability to design and deliver training programs that effectively combine theoretical and practical learning.
Other requirements
- Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with open-source tools and digital resources for technical training and field applications.
Languages
Excellent knowledge of French (spoken and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the of the Organization would be an advantage.

Proposed fee: 390-560 USD per day, depending upon experience, knowledge and skills.
