Work LocationMaputo Expected duration02/02/26 - 31/07/26 Duties and ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the Consultant will support the development and implementation of a communications strategy and strengthen visibility of OHCHR in Mozambique. The consultant will be responsible for the following duties: • Supports the development and implementation of a communications strategy for OHCHR Mozambique. • Tracks, analyses and produces information on assigned topics/issues; gathers information from diverse sources and helps to assess news value and other potential impacts, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of information campaigns. • Drafts/compiles specific types (e.g. print, broadcast, etc.) of information, outreach documents, communications products for target audiences, to include press releases, media packets and reports, brochures, briefings, video clips, newsletters, websites, stories, etc. • Manages social media accounts and develops relevant content, in consultation with relevant colleagues. • Organizes the clearance, production and distribution of information material; conducts photo and graphic research. • In consultation with others, identifies and proposes information opportunities, activities and approaches, considering the situation/topic and target audience. • Identifies key contacts/constituencies and opportunities for strategic partnerships to facilitate communication efforts. • Organizes or participates in the organization of conferences, seminars, press briefings, interviews, etc.; prepares briefing materials for senior officials prior to their participation in such events. • Supports collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. Qualifications/special skillsFirst degree in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration or related field is required A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration or related area. Experience with a United Nations entity (desirable). Experience working with a human rights organization (desirable). Experience in data analytics or related area (desirable). LanguagesFluency in English and Portuguese (both oral and written) is required. Additional InformationNot available.
