The intern will work closely with the department to support key country office communication initiatives and contribute to the overall advocacy strategy. The intern will need to be highly motivated and passionate about communicating and storytelling. They should be prepared to work collaboratively with a team and be able to meet deadlines. The intern should be open to feedback and willing to learn from their mistakes. ย
The intern will be expected to:ย
Assist in the development of communication materials, including media packages, fact sheets and social media contentย
Support the country office in the production and finalisation of communications productsย
Produce content for use for countryโs influencingย
Conduct research on key regional issues and compile reports for internal useย
Support the planning and implementation of communication campaigns and eventsย
Monitor media coverage and social media trends relevant to Kenyaย
Assist in the maintenance of the country office online presence, including the website and social media accountsย
Travel to field locations in Kenya for content gathering (video, photo and text)ย

As part of the internship, the intern will be expected to undergo in-house training in NRCโs branding and house style, digital asset systems, ethics, and other relevant areasย
Currently enrolled in final year or recently graduated (past 18 months) with a Degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, or a related field.ย ย

Excellent English writing skills and attention to detailย
Sound photography and filming skillsย
Knowledge of digital storytelling techniquesย
Knowledge of and interest in regional humanitarian issuesย ย
Experience in using social media for advocacy and outreachย
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (photo, audio and video editing, and design)ย
