Background:

UN Women seeks to recruit a competent Communications Specialist consultant to develop and execute upon need media materials related to womenโ€™s empowerment and womenโ€™s leadership in Lebanon.

The consultant will be reporting to Womenโ€™s Political Participation Programme Manager who will serve as the supervisor and primary focal point for this consultancy and will be supported by programme assistant, who will be the point of contact on the contract and payment issues. The consultant will be working across the Womenโ€™s Political Participation (WPP), Womenโ€™s Economic Empowerment (WEE), and Womenโ€™s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) programmes.

Description of Responsibilities/ Scope of Work

The candidate selected for this consultancy will be expected to develop and execute a robust media campaign to disseminate key findings and insights of a study on womenโ€™s participation in political parties in Lebanon and support other programmes in their communication needs. The aim is to reach a diverse audience and maximize the impact of the study.

Scope of Work:

Managing the website of the Feminist Platform
supporting the platform in producing all needed media materials, including and not limited to designing their press releases and uploading it on its website and social media handles, update the social media handles with new materials upon need, developing visuals and short videos and infographics for the FP when needed, and developing its communication and messaging, designing reports and materials
ย  Designing reports and power point presentations
Design reports, portfolio documents, briefing papers, power point presentations etc. and produce dissemination plans for these reports.
ย  Producing media materials

- Producing the invitations, Power Point presentations, banners, backdrops or any visual material needed for specific events.
- Creating a banner template that can be used by UN Women Lebanon and its partners for various: ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย 
ย  Developing project joint branding โ€“ and application of branding to project visibility collaterals to support the visibility of the project.
ย  Developing a generic donor briefing template in Word and PowerPoint formats.
ย  Developing a micro page on UN Women Lebanon highlighting the project and prominently featuring the joint branding and acknowledgment of all stakeholders. As well as frequently updating the webpage with relevant stories and publications.
ย  Organizing training sessions to train implementing partners on project specific communications guidelines, as well as empowering advocacy tools.
ย  Supporting in the writing and dissemination of press releases and media advisories throughout the duration of the project.
ย  Producing and disseminating human-interest stories and profiles of women and girls from diverse vulnerable groups impacted by the crisis. The stories will be presented in interactive formats such as photo essays, videos, and interactive webpages and disseminated on UN Women Lebanon and partners websites.

Functional Competencies:

Ability to communicate sensitively, effectively and creatively across different constituencies. Strong knowledge of managing web-based knowledge management systems. Strong understanding of production, graphic design and photography standards. Strong knowledge of social media platforms and experience in social media outreach. Strong oral and written communication and editing skills. Strong communication, and advocacy skills. Ability to provide advice and be strategic and analytical. Good knowledge of local country media landscape. Knowledge of gender and human rights issues is desirable

Required Qualifications:

Education and Certification:

Masterโ€™s degree (or equivalent) in communications, public relations, journalism or relevant field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

At least 5 years of professional work experience at national or international level in public relations, communications, or advocacy, including in media relations is required. Experience in the use of social media is required. Experience in gender and human rights issues is an asset. Computer skills, statistics, internet communication and command of MS Office is required.

Languages:

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic or French is an asset.
