Mission and objectivesThe United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, headquartered in Bonn Germany, contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. UNV work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (https://www.undp.org/). The UNV Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, one of six Regional Offices in different locations around the world, forges opportunities for the mobilization of UN Volunteers in support of the UN systemโs activities on peace and development, as well as to support volunteerism as a form of civic engagement through increased capabilities and regional partnerships with UN and non-UN entities. At the country level, UNV Field Units interact with UN entities to integrate volunteerism into their development agenda and for deployment of National UN Volunteers.
ContextAs a volunteer with the UNV Field Unit, you will help connect individuals and organizations to volunteer opportunities that support peace, development, and humanitarian efforts. At country level, the UNV Field Unit (FU) are responsible for the mobilization and placement of UN Volunteers in UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes in the areas of peace, development and humanitarian assistance. UNV Field Units represent and position UNV in the respective countries with a focus on the UN Country Team, bringing UNVโs services and solutions closer to its partners within a client service approach and collaborating with other stakeholders from government, civil society and private sector. At UNV, communications is a strategic function that strengthens the organizationโs ability to engage partners, advocate for volunteerism, and demonstrate results. Communications contributes directly to UNVโs overall mandate by contributing to the mobilization of UN Volunteers, increasing visibility of UN Volunteers and their contributions to peace and development, promoting volunteerism, supporting talent outreach, and reinforcing UNVโs identity within the UN system and beyond. Ultimately, your contribution as a UNV Field Unit volunteer will help build stronger communities, foster collaboration, and amplify the spirit of volunteerism that lies at the heart of the United Nationsโ mission.
Task DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of UNV Country Coordinator, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: โข Support the mobilization of UN Volunteers and follow up on partnership opportunities with UN entities in the assigned area. โข Share your own experience as a UN Volunteer to highlight UNVโs mandate, key offers, and the added value of volunteer assignments. โข Support advocacy campaigns, key events, and communications that raise awareness of volunteerism and highlight impact stories, โข Support in the preparation of presentations, mapping, and key messages for engagement with partners and internal use. โข Draft and adapt original, audience-specific content that highlights the contributions of UN Volunteers, ensuring messages are relatable and inspiring to diverse groups of po-tential volunteers and partners. โข Collect and collate content (photos, videos, quotes, testimonials) from volunteers and partners to support the creation of multimedia products in line with UNV branding guidelines. โข Liaise with fellow UN Volunteers, and field teams to source and draft country-specific stories, visuals, and testimonials that showcase volunteer impact. Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to: โข Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for in-stance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); โข Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; โข Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities; โข Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publica-tions/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; โข Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; โข Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Living conditions and remarksNew Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region is a large and bustling metropolis of some 14 million people undergoing rapid changes. The capital city is an administrative, cultural and commercial center with modern amenities and well connected by air. It is a safe place with large expatriate community drawn from embassies, UN agencies, MNCs and foreign businesses. It has short moderate winter and long hot summer. UN Volunteer entitlements and allowances: The purpose of the allowances and entitlements paid to the UN Volunteer is to enable UN Volunteers to sustain a secure standard of living at the duty stations in line with United Nations standards without incurring personal costs.
