This is a temporary assignment with a duration of four months. The selected candidate will be locally recruited. The ILO may only offer a contract to persons who have a valid residency status in Switzerland or neighbouring France.
The selection process is not subject to the rules and procedures defined in Annex I of the ILO Staff Regulations.

Introduction
The temporary position is located in the Conditions of Work and Equality Department (WORKQUALITY).
WORKQUALITY leads global efforts for the development of sound policies aimed at inclusive labour markets, improved workersโ well-being and equality. It pursues work along two interrelated axes: (1) Extensive analyses and technical assistance on labour market institutions and their effect on workers protection, employment and economic performance, with a view to balancing equity and efficiency considerations; and (2) The promotion of a broad and integrated approach to non-discrimination and equality at work on multiple grounds, (i.e. sex, gender, race, ethnic origin, nationality, health status or disability), with a focus on those workers that are most at-risk of discriminatory measures and practices in the workplace.
The Communication and Knowledge Management Officer will provide support to the follow-up to the resolution and conclusions of the recurrent discussion on labour protection, including in the development of research covering areas under the responsibility of the Department and the production of key documents, tools and materials. She/he will also support the organization of WORKQUALITYโs GTT retreat.
Specific Duties
Under the direct supervision of the Administrator/Programme Analyst and through general guidance from the Director of WORKQUALITY, the incumbent will carry out the following duties:
- Assist in the collection and analysis of data on the key dimensions of labour protection to be included in papers, briefs, PowerPoint presentations, Infographics and other materials produced by the department.
- Collect good practices across the department and prepare background analyses as a basis for management to introduce continuous process improvements.
- Assist in strengthening the Departmentโs institutional communication, including through:
- the identification of communication and information needs and priorities and proposing possible products that could be developed;
- supporting the production of communications materials on labour protection targeting internal and external audiences;
- supporting the development of Info Stories to be included in the 2022-23 Programme Implementation Report for policy outcomes under the responsibility of WORKQUALITY;
- supporting the organisation of knowledge sharing events on labour protection.
- Support the organization of WORKQUALITYโs Global Technical Team retreat (October 2023), including through supporting the production of relevant preparatory documentation, in addition to providing inputs to the report on the outcome of the retreat.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Required qualifications
Education
First-level university degree (Bachelors or equivalent) in communications, journalism, international relations, the liberal arts or similar field. An advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) would be an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of three yearsโ experience in communications, public information or related fields of work.
Languages
Excellent command of English. Knowledge of another ILO official working language (French, Spanish) would be an advantage.
Competencies
This position requires: Knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to labour protection; knowledge of IT applications for information collection, management and dissemination; ability to use analytical tools and qualitative and quantitative research methods; ability to identify sources and develop methods for data collection; research and analytical skills; communication skills; drafting skills; ability to adapt quickly to new IT software and systems; ability to maintain effective and collaborative working relationships; ability to prepare and deliver internal presentations and messages, using a range of techniques and technologies; ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and to demonstrate and model gender-responsive, non-discriminatory and inclusive behaviour and attitudes.
