First version of an automatically generated report available on development environment by end of March 2026 Work LocationITC Headquarters, Geneva Expected duration6 mts from ASAP Duties and ResponsibilitiesITC is a joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation for trade-related technical cooperation in developing countries. ITC’s Trade and Market Intelligence section provides easy-to-use analytical information and diagnostic tools to support development of trade strategies for governments, trade and investment support institutions and companies in the developing world. ITC is currently enhancing and disseminating the African Trade Observatory (ATO) platform through the Continental Component of the Africa Trade Competitiveness and Market Access (ATCMA) which aims at fostering integration in Africa. The current position entails developing an automated report feature of the ATO platform to improve its accessibility and reach. Description of Duties/Responsibilities: Under the overall guidance of Chief TMI and the direct supervision of the market analyst, the consultant will: 1. Conduct research, contribute to methodological discussions and provide recommendations (incl. mock-up) on data display and visualization of an ATO automated report 2. Develop guidelines on technical specificities for the web development of an ATO automated report 3. Coordinate the development and testing of a 1st version of an ATO automated report with web developers and statisticians 4. Assist in coordinating the release of other new features/updates of the ATO platform. Copyright: The Consultant has to ensure that s/he has obtained the necessary permissions with regard to intellectual property rights required to perform his/her services under this consultancy contract and for the subsequent dissemination by ITC in any form. Documentary proof is to be submitted to ITC. Should any license fee be due for the use of copyrighted materials of third parties, the Consultant shall request the prior written permission from ITC. S/he has further to ensure to obtain accreditation to event(s), if required. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced degree (MA/MSc or other) in economics, law, international relations, statistics, business or related field. At least 2 years of work experience in the field of trade analysis, trade policy and economic research. Other experience: • Experience in data analytics and visualisation. • Good knowledge of African trade and market access indicators. • Good knowledge of the African Trade Observatory platform and indicators. • Experience in working with IT developers would be an asset. Skills: • The consultant has an academic background and substantive work experience in the field of international trade economics and is familiar with firm-level data. • She/ He is familiar with the African Trade Observatory (ATO), as well as having an expertise in data analysis.
