Organizational Setting
Guided by the Country Program Framework 2023 -2027, FAOโs country programme in Egypt is aligned with country priorities as expressed in national strategies such as; Vision 2030, 2030 Updated Sustainable Agricultural Development Strategy and Action Plan (SADS-2030), National Water Resources Plan, 2017-2037, Egypt National Climate Change Strategy-2050 and First Updated Nationally Determined Contributions (2022), National Food and Nutrition Strategy (2022-2030), Egypt National Action Plan for Antimicrobial Resistance (2018-2022), Programmer (2022), National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women, 2030, Haya Karima Initiative (Decent Life โ Sustainable Rural Communities) 2019-2030, Nexus of Water, Food and Energy (NWFE) Program, and residential Initiative โBedaya โ A New Beginning for Human Buildingโ.
Through the support of various international donors, FAO Egypt is implementing a growing portfolio of projects covering but not limited to; land and water enhancement, agriculture production, animal health, climate change adaptation, agrifood value chain development, food security and nutrition and support to vulnerable rural and smallholder farmers. Further, an expected pipeline of projects covering climate change adaptation, natural resources management, biodiversity restoration and risk reduction is expected. FAO Egypt also sits in various coordination mechanisms in the country, in a strategic capacity, as a technical lead for food systems and agriculture.
To deliver its program, FAO Egypt is working with several line ministries such as Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health and Population, Ministry of Social Solidarity, Ministry of Water Irrigation, and Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Reporting Lines
The Budget Assistant will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative, and the direct supervision of the Programme Officer/Head of Operations in FAO Egypt.
Technical Focus
The incumbent will support the effective monitoring and reporting of FAO Egypt budgetary resources. He/she will ensure quality, transparency and consistency of data and processes within his/her area of responsibility and contributes to a smooth functioning of the work of the unit. He/she will use technical and analytical skills to analyze data and communicate their findings.
Tasks and responsibilities
โข ย ย ย ย Collect, clean and organize budget data from internal FAO systems, spreadsheets and supporting documents.
โข ย ย ย ย Perform data quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of budget-related datasets.
โข ย ย ย ย Provide the necessary support to the review of expenditure transaction listings and financial reports to help identify errors or inconsistencies against approved budgets.
โข ย ย ย ย Maintain up-to-date documentation of budget data for analysis and reporting purposes.ย
โข ย ย ย ย Support the monitoring of project budgets and funding agreements to ensure timely initiation of calls for funds and compliance with financial conditions.ย
โข ย ย ย ย Assist in compiling inputs for budget forecasts.
โข ย ย ย ย Support the development of tools and visuals to facilitate results-based monitoring and evaluation.
โข ย ย ย ย Support the preparation of a budgetary performance dashboard for the office.
โข ย ย ย ย Collaborate with relevant teams in FAO Egypt to ensure timely and accurate availability of budget data.
โข ย ย ย ย Perform other duties as and when required, consistent with the scope and level of the assignment.

Minimum Requirementsย
ย ย
โข ย ย ย ย University degree in business administration, finance, economics, ย or other related disciplines that involve substantial numerical and analytical work;
โข ย ย ย ย At least five (1) year of relevant experience in data analysis and budget-related support work;
โข ย ย ย ย Working knowledge (level C) in the English and Arabic languages;
โข ย ย ย ย National of Egypt.
