Organizational Context:

UNHCR is recruiting an Assistant Fundraising Officer (Legacies and Mid-Value) in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Established in December 1950, UNHCR is mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect and assist refugees and to find durable solutions to their plight. During more than seven decades, UNHCR has helped more than 84 million people restart their lives. Today, UNHCR staff in more than 135 countries continue to help and protect millions of refugees, returnees, internally displaced and stateless people.

UNHCR has relocated several key functions from our Headquarters in Geneva to UN City in Copenhagen, including UNHCRโ€™s Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP), which supports UNHCRโ€™s growing engagement with the general public and the private sector in all regions of the world.

UNHCRโ€™s Private Sector Partnerships team for Denmark was established in 2018 and covers both individual giving and partnerships with the Danish private sector. PSP Denmark is experiencing strong growth. One of our key priorities is to launch a dedicated legacies programme and scale our existing mid-value donor programme through acquisition campaigns as well as campaigns and communication with existing audiences to secure continued income growth.

To achieve this goal, PSP Denmark is hiring an experienced colleague to build an ambitious legacies programme and expand our already successful engagement with mid-value individual donors in Denmark.

The position:

PSP Denmark is experiencing a strong shift towards income generated from existing donors, particularly high-value and mid-value supporters, reflecting the success of our donor journey programmes and the rapid growth of our mid-value portfolio. To build on this momentum, we are strengthening our Individual Giving team with a dedicated profile focused on mid-value donors and legacies.

This new role will play a key part in acquiring new mid-value donors, growing long-term donor value through targeted journeys, and developing a structured legacies programme. With data showing significant growth in legacy giving across the Danish NGO sector - supported by increasing wealth and an ageing population - this new position represents a strategic investment in two high-potential income streams that will be fully embedded in PSP Denmarkโ€™s donor journey approach.

We are seeking a creative, results-oriented and engaged team player who will take responsibility for managing managing and further developing PSP Denmarkโ€™s Individual Giving acquisition activities, with a particular focus on mid-value donors and legacies.

The still expanding PSP Denmark team currently consists of 11 dedicated colleagues, with 4 persons currently engaged in the Individual Giving fundraising activities. The team works in an informal and collaborative manner with a high focus on flexibility and trust, but also in a performance-driven environment with great focus on securing continued income and donor growth.

Scope of Assignment:

Reporting on a day-to-day basis to the Head of the Individual Giving programme in Denmark and working very closely in an informal and dynamic way with colleagues in Denmark and at the regional and global level, the tasks of the Assistant Fundraising Officer (Legacies and Mid-Value) will be the following:

โ€ข As part of the IG team, be focal point for legacies and middle donors in Denmark;

โ€ข Conduct ongoing analysis of target groups and segmentation, including market analysis and propensity modeling;
โ€ข Grow a strong pipeline of new middle donors and legacy pledgers through capacity-giving screening;
โ€ข Develop and implement in collaboration with channel managers compelling multichannel campaigns via e.g. email, print, DM, newsletters, digital and telemarketing;
โ€ข Steward relations with legacy leads and pledgers and keep data records updated in CRM system;
โ€ข Organize events for middle donors and legacy prospects;
โ€ข Act as focal point for UNHCRโ€™s collaboration with โ€œDet Gode Testamenteโ€ and participate in networking;
โ€ข Manage relations with local lawyer supporting UNHCRโ€™s legacies programme;
