Org. Setting and ReportingThe Assistant Coordination Officer works under the direct supervision of the senior Special Assistant in the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNAMA. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, and under the direct supervision of the senior Special Assistant, the incumbent will carry out the following duties: • Coordinates protocol matters related to the SRSG’s programme and organizes meetings for SRSG with de facto officials, diplomatic missions, civil society actors and UNAMA and UN agencies; • Monitors, analyses & reports on trends in the political and socio-economic environment, particularly related to members of the de facto authorities. • Identifies key issues including challenges that require immediate support and advice, supports effective communication and information management including database maintenance; attends meetings as requested. • Assists the work of the Office by providing administrative, human resources-related and logistical support to facilitate implementation of day-to-day front office activities and engagement with stakeholders. • Assists the Special Assistants with preparing drafts of official correspondence, routine and ad hoc situation reports/briefings/talking points. • Performs any other duties as required. Previous experience in supporting the management of the front office of senior officials is desirable. Previous experience in coordinating protocol activities within national authorities or international entities is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. Dari and Pashto are required.
