The position is located in the Data and Analytics Unit of the Knowledge & Innovation Branch of UN-Habitat in the External Relations, Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation Division of UN-Habitat (ERSKI), at the Nairobi duty station. ERSKI is responsible for strategic planning, programmatic direction and operationalization of UN-Habitat's focal point role for the New Urban Agenda in the UN system and for coordination of Emergency Programmes. UN-Habitat strives to establish and strengthen strategic relationships with a diverse range of partners at national, regional and international level, including political actors, civil society, professional organizations, and the private sector to work towards a better urban future for everyone. Having at its disposal a number of unique networks with access to governments, academia, the research community, cities, civil society, including grassroots organizations and being the recognized focal point for local governments in the UN system, UN-Habitat aims to ensure coherence of development efforts as well as innovative, multi-partner mechanisms at global, regional, and country levels. The Partnerships and Local Governments Unit (PLU) is a structure Unit of ERSKI Division that is responsible for corporate partnerships including management of engagement of partners in intergovernmental processes, and reporting on engagement in normative and operational activities. The PLU seeks to develop a digital Partnership Information Management System (PIMS) to enhance data collection, analysis, dissemination, and use at the corporate level. The PIMS will support UN-Habitatโ€™s efforts in improving efficiency, transparency and accountability by providing real-time insights into partnerships and stakeholder engagements. This system will replace the current Excel-based partnership database and static web pages with a dynamic and integrated digital platform, enabling better coordination, reporting, and accessibility of information for internal and external stakeholders. Under the direct supervision of the Associate Coordination Officer of the PLU, the consultants will be responsible for the following duties: Stakeholder Engagement and Mobilization Lead outreach and engagement initiatives to ensure inclusive participation of diverse stakeholders, including civil society, academia, and local governments, for the Resumed Session of the United Nations Habitat Assembly. Coordinate mobilization and planning of Parliamentarians and civil society roundtables for the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13). Event Planning and Coordination Plan and coordinate the Global Stakeholders Forum, including logistical arrangements, communication strategies, and production of a comprehensive outcome report. Stakeholder Consultations Support Develop background materials and guiding questions for stakeholder consultations in preparation for WUF13. Coordinate outreach and communication with relevant stakeholders. Draft consultation reports and outcome summaries. Strategic Planning and Drafting Support the drafting and consultation processes for the Global Action Plan related to partnerships, coalitions, advocacy, and communications, in alignment with the Strategic Plan 2026โ€“2029. Provide substantive input and contribute to the drafting of key components of the Global Action Plan. Knowledge Product Development Assist in drafting and structuring the Stakeholder Engagement Handbook to guide both programmatic and intergovernmental engagement. Information Management Maintain and regularly update the Partnership Information Management System (PIMS) in coordination with regional and branch focal points. Ensure the accuracy and timely entry of stakeholder data according to organizational standards. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics, business administration, public administration or related area is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems or related area is required. Experience in developing and overseeing institutional ICT systems at the international level is required. Experience in developing and implementing ICT strategies and governance frameworks, familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Information Security Management and risk mitigations, Enterprise Data Platform / Warehouse (EDP/W) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
