Setting and Reporting The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities. UN-Habitat is the focal point for all urbanization and human settlement matters within the UN system. UN-Habitat works with partners to build inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and communities. UN-Habitat promotes urbanization as a positive transformative force for people and communities, reducing inequality, discrimination and poverty. Currently, the program is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, and finds its support in the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean โ ROLAC, located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil which divides the work between the subregional offices in Brazil and the Southern Cone, Mesoamerica and the Andean countries. The United Nations Human Settlements Program, UN-Habitat Andean Countries HUB has been in Colombia since 2003 promoting sustainable urban development. Its purpose is to technically assist national and territorial governments and other social and academic actors in the implementation of the SDGs, in particular SDG 11 \"Sustainable Cities and Communities\" and the precepts of the New Urban Agenda. For this matter, its actions are focused on the design, implementation and evaluation of urban public policies and urban planning instruments, using the best practices and knowledge accumulated in the country and in other parts of the world on topics such as planning, Governance, economic development and urban finance, climate change, urban legislation and citizen participation. Under the direct supervision of Administrative and Financial Specialist and Regional Director and Coordinator IC for Andean Countries, the Intern will: Responsibilities โข Provide administrative support to the implementation and daily operation of multiple projects within the Andean Countries HUB. โข Support the organization of meetings, including scheduling, preparation of agendas, drafting of minutes, and follow-up on administrative actions. โข Assist in the preparation and organization of administrative documentation related to project activities and proposals. โข Support the drafting and formatting of formal administrative communications, reports, and presentation materials. โข Provide administrative assistance to the HUB Coordination and to project teams, facilitating internal coordination and information flow. โข Assist in the preparation of terms of reference (ToRs) for the recruitment of interns, consultants, and personnel, and support related administrative processes. โข Support the organization of travel agendas and assist with administrative requirements related to official travel. โข Assist with administrative processes related to consultant contracts, payments, travel-related expenses, and other routine contractual and financial tasks. โข Help maintain organized records of correspondence sent and received. โข Support the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date administrative and financial records related to personnel contracts, purchase orders, and payments. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Preferred areas of study: Professional in Business Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, International Relations, Politics and/or related areas. No previous experience is necessary. However, experience in project management cycle will be positively valued. Previous experience with the United Nations or other International Cooperation Organizations is desirable. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Masterโs or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelorโs, Masterโs or Ph.D. Programme.
