ContextNexus Reports is an open science initiative that delivers high-quality, open-access research on the interconnected challenges within the Water-Energy-Food-Health (WEFH) Nexus. This role invites researchers to join a pioneering editorial team to shape, refine and prepare academic content for publication, utilizing open science platforms such as Zenodo to ensure global reach and impact. As a decentralized publication platform, Nexus Reports leverages open science platforms to foster transparent, accessible, and high-impact dissemination of critical research. Researchers will gain valuable experience working with global teams, enhancing skills in open-access publishing, research transparency, and international knowledge sharing. The published works, aimed at policymakers, researchers, and practitioners, will provide country-level assessments and actionable insights on risk management, impact assessment, sustainable resource use, disaster resilience, and public health.

Task DescriptionThis assignment supports open science through editing, refining, and preparing academic articles, reports, and policy briefs for publication. Volunteer researchers will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to enhance the clarity, accuracy, and impact of research related to sustainability, risk management, and the Water-Food-Energy Nexus. Given the document variety and workload, multiple researchers will be engaged, each focusing on specific deliverables for effective task management. 10 Online Volunteers for Research support on Policy Brief Editing Deliverables: Nexus policy briefs providing strategic insights for policy action Frequency: One brief bi-weekly Responsibilities: Draft and finalize policy briefs, incorporating author feedback and ensuring alignment with WEFH priorities. Briefs will be structured to communicate actionable recommendations and research findings tailored to policy stakeholders. 10 Online Volunteers to Support Research Article Editing Deliverables: Peer-reviewed research articles focused on Nexus themes Frequency: One article bi-weekly Responsibilities: Conduct structural edits, refine arguments, and ensure scientific rigor and clarity. Articles should meet APA/Chicago/Harvard style academic and publication standards, as required for decentralized, high-impact open science distribution. 5 Online Volunteers to Support Research on Technical Report Editing Deliverables: In-depth technical reports for country-level Nexus assessments Frequency: One report bi-weekly Responsibilities: Thoroughly review and align technical reports with IPBES standards, maintain formatting consistency, and ensure the highest quality for global audiences. These reports will offer comprehensive, data-driven insights critical to advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 5 Online Volunteers to Research on Social Media & Engagement Activities Deliverables: Social media posts, engagement insights, and community interaction reports centered on the Nexus Reports and WEFH themes Frequency: 3-4 posts per week, with bi-weekly engagement reports Responsibilities: Create and post engaging social media content highlighting Nexus Reportsโ€™ key insights, research findings, and policy recommendations. Collaborate with other researchers to identify shareable insights and ensure messaging aligns with ongoing research publications. Generate bi-weekly reports analyzing audience engagement, feedback trends, and opportunities to enhance reach and impact. Core Responsibilities for All Online Volunteers Content Review: Critically review drafts to ensure clarity, coherence, and adherence to high academic standards and decentralized publishing ethics. Structural Editing: Work with authors to refine document structure, enhance arguments, and ensure clarity of key messages within the WEFH Nexus context. Citation & Formatting: Maintaining consistency in citation styles (APA/Chicago/Harvard) and document formatting is critical for Nexus Reports' open-access standards. Feedback Integration: Actively collaborate with authors to incorporate constructive feedback, ensuring cohesive and polished outputs are ready for decentralized publication.
