UN-Habitat's External Relations, Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation Division (ERSKI) is responsible for strategic planning, programmatic direction and operationalization of UN-Habitat's focal point role for the New Urban Agenda in the UN system; knowledge management, data and reporting; innovation; resource mobilization; and strategic partnerships. This position is located in the Communications and Media Section in the External Relations, Strategy and Innovation Division at the Nairobi duty station. The Communications and Media Section communicates UN-Habitat's key messages to stakeholders and partners, creates awareness on urban issues and promotes UN-Habitat's work and knowledge globally. Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Communications and Media Section the incumbent is responsible for the following duties: Responsibilities The consultant will be responsible for developing social media content, graphics, and data for regular posting on UN-Habitat social media accounts, ensuring the strategic growth of the UN-Habitatโs brand and raise awareness on sustainable urban development and human settlements topics. โข Develop visuals and content for the UN-Habitat Assembly 2.2 in the run up to the event and during the event and for the HLPF on SDG11. โข Develop data cards and materials to be posted with the Annural Report 2024 โข Develop and implement engaging social content for Urban October 2025 โ including videos, social media posts, data cards and materials. Develop social media templates and test content promoting Scroll of Honor, Shanghai Manual awards (headlines, content types, calls to action) monitoring and reporting for ongoing events and outreach campaigns. Qualifications/special skillsA first-level university degree in communications, marketing and international affairs or related field is required A minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in social media is required. Experience in event promotion (preferably in the United Nations and/or a development agency) is desirable LanguagesEnglish and French are the working knowledge of the United Nations Secretariat.
