Our Work In Sierra Leone:
Partners In Health (PIH) began supporting the government of Sierra Leone in response to the Ebola epidemic in October 2014. Recognizing the large need for continued investments in the health system after Ebola, PIH is committed to long-term health system strengthening in support of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS), guided by the same principles as our emergency response and our work around the world: public sector accompaniment, integrated and comprehensive services, social justice, nimbleness and flexibility, partnership, community ownership, and evidence-based interventions. In the aftermath of the epidemic, PIH is committed to supporting the delivery of comprehensive health services in Sierra Leone, from the community level to the health center and to referral hospitals.
Position Overview
The Warehouse Assistant supports the Warehouse Officer in overseeing daily warehouse operations. This includes the accurate receipt, storage, and dispatch of inventory, maintaining records in electronic and paper-based systems, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The Warehouse Assistant will also be responsible for operating a forklift and must hold a valid driving license. This role is key to promoting efficient, safe, and organized warehouse practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
๏ Receive and store all inventory including pharmaceuticals, laboratory reagents, medical consumables, and non-clinical items as per established SOPs.
๏ Operate warehouse handling equipment, including forklifts, in a safe and efficient manner.
๏ Ensure that each inventory transaction is recorded in the OpenBoxes e-management system and on corresponding stock cards.
๏ Maintain accurate and timely filing of warehouse documents.
๏ Monitor cold chain equipment and room temperatures to ensure appropriate storage conditions for sensitive products.
๏ Follow Good Warehouse Practices during storage and distribution.
๏ Adhere to the FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principle for inventory rotation to reduce waste from expired items.
๏ Ensure warehouse cleanliness and organization are maintained at all times.
๏ Track and isolate expired items and ensure their removal from storage bins.
๏ Conduct cycle counts at the end of every monthly distribution and wall to wall inventory verifications.
๏ Ensure prompt and respectful service to all program requestors and stakeholders.
๏ Ensure timely delivery of ad-hoc warehouse items to requestors upon request.
๏ Execute other duties assigned by the Warehouse Officer or management.

Education and Work Experience Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
๏ Minimum of a High School Certificate; a diploma in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field is an added advantage.
๏ Valid driving license (Class B or above); experience operating forklifts is an added advantage.
๏ At least 1 year of experience in warehousing, logistics, or inventory management.
๏ Prior experience working with health commodities is a plus.
Skills and Competencies:
๏ Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse handling equipment safely and efficiently.
๏ Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Excel, Word); experience with OpenBoxes or other e-LMIS systems is preferred.
๏ Strong organizational and time management skills.
๏ Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and physical handling of stock.
๏ Good communication and teamwork abilities.
๏ Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
๏ Ability to carefully monitor and manage controlled drugs, ensuring integrity and accountability at all times.
๏ Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends when necessary.
