The MRC Senior Counsellor will work under upcoming project for Iraq implemented by ICMPD. The project focuses on the operationalisation of a Migrant Resource Centres (MRC) in Basra, which serves as a one-stop-shop responding to the needs of potential, intending, and returning migrants, by strengthening irregular migration prevention and access to migration reintegration services in Iraq through awareness-raising, capacity building, and community support.
The MRC Senior Counsellor will work closely with the MRC Coordinator and respective project manager. The MRC Senior Counsellor, based on solid knowledge and experience, supports the implementation of MRC strategies and workplans, ensuring effective communication, information, outreach, and service delivery in accordance with ICMPD rules and procedures. S/he works collaboratively with other counsellors, administrative support staff, project teams, relevant local counterparts. Collaborating with the MRC Coordinator to understand the specific needs and requirements for the referral support mechanisms at MRCs, s/he assists with the implementation and monitoring of referral support activities, conducting periodic spot checks with both clients and referred partners to ensure timely availability of services and active communication, providing feedback to counsellors and project teams.
S/he will work under the supervision of MRC Coordinator and Project Manager โ MRCs in Iraq
Position-Specific Expertise:
Proven knowledge and experience of migration dynamics in the country, specifically in the fields of return and reintegrationStrong sense of client orientation, counselling/ psychosocial counselling and good understanding of effective service delivery, community engagement, outreach, and social workCapability to establish effective relationships with stakeholders, and successfully build strategic networks and partnerships.Demonstrated proficiency in office administration and management, encompassing narrative reporting, financial reporting, and data analysis.
Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills:
Proficiency in verbal and written English and the language(s) of the duty station (Arabic)
