The MRC Counsellors will work under the project “SI-COM Sweden- Iraq Cooperation on Migration Governance\", funded by the Swedish Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and the Swedish Migration Agency (SMA) and implemented by ICMPD within the framework of the Nordic Cooperation on Return and Reintegration in Iraq – NORAQ. The project aims to address these migration challenges by increasing awareness and access to services related to migration processes, referral mechanisms, and reintegration for outgoing, intending, and returning migrants in the KR-I. This initiative also seeks to strengthen the capacities of the Government of Iraq (GoI) and Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in migration management. The project focuses on the setup and operationalisation of a Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in Sulaymaniyah which serves as a one-stop-shop responding to the needs of potential, outgoing, and returning migrants, helping them make informed and safe migration decisions.

The MRC Counsellor will provide an array of services, including counselling, outreach, and referral. Additionally, it will support in increase the capacity of beneficiaries and relevant stakeholders in the field of migration management by providing information through their participation in awareness-raising and knowledge-building activities on migration.

S/he will work under the supervision of MRC Coordinator and Project Manager – MRCs in Iraq

Position-Specific Expertise:

Proven knowledge and experience of migration dynamics in the country, specifically in the fields of return and reintegrationStrong sense of client orientation and good understanding of effective service delivery, community engagement, outreach, and social workCapability to establish effective relationships with stakeholders, and successfully build strategic networks and partnerships.

Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills:
Proficiency in verbal and written English and the language(s) of the duty station (Sorani, Kurdish)​
