5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

UNICEF works in some of the worldโ€™s toughest places, to reach the worldโ€™s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.ย

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.ย

And we never give up.ย

For every child, every right

In recent years UNICEF has increased its focus on young people. The UNICEF Strategic Plan 2022โˆ’2025 recognizes the whole spectrum of young people, including young adults or youth over 18. It includes in its Change Strategies: โ€œadolescent development with priority to their mental healthโ€

Adolescents today are facing a compounding mental health crisis: more young people than ever are struggling with anxiety, depression, and other negative emotions. Fifty percent of all mental health conditions start by age 14 and 75% by age 24. Most cases are undetected and untreated. uSupport initiative aims to make mental health and psycho-social support services more affordable, inclusive, and accessible to all adolescents.

Many young people turn online seeking information, care and services for their mental health needs. uSupport can be a confidential, secure and trusted platform to provide support to youth where they are: online.

In 2022, UNICEF Europe and Central Asia Regional Office (ECARO) developed an innovative on-demand digital mental health (MH) solution to address the growing mental health concerns for youth in the Europe and Central Asia Region. ECAROโ€™s uSupport platform has been designed to address an important bottleneck in MH care in the region, which is the significant gap in access to MH support and services for young people.

As of April 2025, uSupport successfully tested the minimum value product and 64 articles developed for the platform, with young people and psychologists and preparations are ongoing for piloting in a number of countries (Kazakhstan, Poland) in Ukrainian, Polish, Russian and English. Feedback from young people outlined the need for youth friendly, visually appealing and engaging articles for young people.

How can you make a difference?ย
