ContextThe India Country Office is currently implementing its 10th Country Programme (CP-10). CP-10 envisions an India where every woman and young person, including those from the most vulnerable groups, enjoys gender equality, fully realizes sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights, and actively contributes to sustainable development. Guided by the new UNFPA Strategic Plan, 2022-2025, the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the new country program will intensify efforts to end preventable maternal deaths, unmet need for family planning, and gender-based violence and harmful practices, including in humanitarian situations. The country program was developed in consultation with national and State governments, civil society, United Nations organizations, and other stakeholders, including women and youth-led organizations, based on the principles of inclusion, human rights, and gender equality. The UNFPA office in Madhya Pradesh (MP) supports the state government and civil society across various sectors (health, education, gender equality) to achieve UNFPAโs transformative results under the UNFPA Strategic Plan and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To enhance the visibility, stakeholder engagement, and resource mobilization efforts supporting UNFPA's work in Madhya Pradesh, a dedicated UNV Communications and RM Associate is required.
Task DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of the UNFPA Head of State Office (Madhya Pradesh) and in close coordination with the UNFPA India Country Office Communications and RM/Partnership Unit, the UNV Communications and RM Associate will: A. Communications โ Support the execution of the state-specific 360 degree communications and media strategy. โ Draft, edit, and design communication materials (e.g., factsheets, presentations, leaflets, infographics) using tools such as Canva (proficiency in Adobe Suite or any other AI tool is an advantage). โ Develop compelling content documenting UNFPAโs work, including success stories, human-interest pieces, and testimonials for reports, newsletters, UNFPA website and external communication as per the template provided by the Country Office Communications Unit โ Provide inputs for finalizing communication materials (toolkits, manuals, BCC materials) developed with implementing partners. โ Develop and maintain a database of media contacts (journalists, media houses) in Madhya Pradesh. โ Coordinate with the Country Office Communications Unit to amplify programmatic impact and events on social media platforms; draft relevant content. โ Support the organization and coordination of events, campaigns, workshops, press conferences, and media briefings. โ Maintain an organized repository of communication assets (photos, videos, publications) with thematic categorization and proper referencing. โ Support photo and video documentation of program activities (basic/intermediate photography and video editing skills are an asset). B. Resource Mobilization Support โ Contribute to the implementation of the resource mobilization strategy of UNFPA India. โ Research and map potential donors, foundations, and funding opportunities . โ Assist in drafting concept notes and funding proposals in co-ordination with State and Country office colleagues โ Support the State and Country Office team in engaging with Government departments for potential financing. โ Support the organization of donor meetings and maintain a partner/donor database. โ Assist in preparing donor reports related to fund utilization. โ Contribute to developing communication materials specifically for fundraising. โ Support the preparation of pitch decks, donor profiles, and talking points for senior leadership ahead of partner engagements. โ Support private sector engagement efforts, including due diligence processes and landscape mapping. C. Other Duties: โ Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Living conditions and remarksBhopal is the capital city of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and the administrative headquarters of Bhopal district and Bhopal division. The city was the capital of the former Bhopal State. Bhopal is known as the City of Lakes for its various natural as well as artificial lakes and is also one of the greenest cities in India. It is the 17th largest city in the country and 131st in the world. Bhopal has a humid subtropical climate, with cool, dry winters, a hot summer and a humid monsoon season. Summers start in late March and go on till mid-June, the average temperature being around 30 ยฐC (86 ยฐF), with the peak of summer in May, when the highs regularly exceed 40 ยฐC (104 ยฐF). The monsoon starts in late June and ends in late September. These months see about 40 inches (1020 mm) of precipitation, frequent thunderstorms and flooding. The average temperature is around 25 ยฐC (77 ยฐF) and the humidity is quite high. Temperatures rise again up to late October when winter starts, which lasts up to early March. Winters in Bhopal are cool, and not very much comfortable like summers, with average daily temperatures around 16 ยฐC (61 ยฐF). The winter peaks in January when temperatures may drop close to freezing on some nights. Lowest temperature ever recorded was 0.3C. Total annual rainfall is about 1146 mm (46 inches). As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Bhopal. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions. The contract lasts for the period indicated above with possibility of extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment. The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents - except for UN Community Volunteers), as well as final repatriation (if applicable).
