Background:

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.ย 

The Womenโ€™s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) is a partnership between the United Nations, Member States, and the civil society, which supports women led and womenโ€™s rights organizations working to build peace and provide humanitarian response throughout the world. Since the end of 2016, the WPHF has supported over 1,500 civil society organizations and is present over 40 countries.ย 

UN Women hosts the Secretariat of the Womenโ€™s Peace and Humanitarian Fund. The WPHF Secretariat provides support to the Funding Board, mobilizes resources from Governments, companies, foundations and individuals, designs and manages global funding windows and mechanisms, provides day to day support to Country Offices implementing WPHF programmes, ensures timely and quality monitoring and reporting. The Secretariatโ€™s mandate is also to strengthen stakeholdersโ€™ knowledge of and engagement with women, peace and security issues through proper internal and external communications, advocacy and outreach. Finally, the Secretariat provides knowledge management services for the WPHF and manages Community of Practice (CoP) for WPHF partners and grantees.ย 

The Programme Analyst will be reporting to the Programme Coordinators (P3) of the Regular Funding Cycle, who will be responsible for the contract and payment issues. The Programme Analyst facilitates the implementation and management of the Fundโ€™s Regular Funding Cycle portfolio in the area of women, peace and security and humanitarian action. The Programme Analyst works in close collaboration with other WPHF teams and Funding Windows as well as with Management Entities in countries and civil society, ensuring successful programme implementation of the Regular Funding Cycle portfolio.ย The Programme Analyst also provides substantive inputs to the Fundโ€™s advocacy, knowledge building, reporting and partnerships.ย ย ย ย 

Description of Responsibilities/ Scope of Work

  1. Contribute technically to the development of funding allocations and initiatives of the Fundโ€™s Regular Funding Cycle portfolio in the area of women, peace and security and humanitarian action.
