Background:
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
UN Women hosts the Secretariat of the United Nations Womenโs Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), the only multi-partner trust fund dedicated to accelerating programmatic and institutional support for local womenโs organizations working in fragile settings to respond to crises and build lasting peace. Since its launch in 2016, WPHF has funded and supported the capacity of over 1,400 local and grassroots civil society organizations in 46 crisis-affected countries around the world. UN Women hosts the Secretariat of the Womenโs Peace and Humanitarian Fund. The WPHF Secretariat provides support to the Funding Board, mobilizes resources from Governments, companies, foundations and individuals, provides day to day support to Country Offices implementing WPHF programmes, ensures timely and quality monitoring and reporting, and amplifies the work and impact of WPHF grantee partners around the world. In addition to its Regular Funding Cycle, supporting local interventions led by and working alongside women to contribute to peace and humanitarian action worldwide, WPHF has establish three unique financing mechanisms to respond to new and emerging crises: the Rapid Response Window for Women and Peace Processes, which was requested by the UN SG and supports womenโs participation in track 1 and 2 peace processes and the implementation of peace agreements and the Window for Women Human Rights Defenders, which promotes the protection and the participation of WHRDs in crisis settings.
Under the direct supervision of the Communications and Advocacy Specialist of the Womenโs Peace and Humanitarian Fund โ Peace, Security and Resilience Section โ the WPHF Partnerships and Advocacy Analyst will support the Fund with the implementation and execution of all components of its NY-based event coordination, public advocacy and public-private sector engagement strategies, including supporting direct engagement with its #InvestInWomen Campaign activations, cultivating individual donor relations, assisting with foundation and partnership outreach, coordinating NY-based event planning โ through the organizing of donor contact information, gift tracking, revenue reporting reconciliation and coordination with WPHFโs third-party fiduciary partner โ contributing to the private sector-related visibility, public advocacy initiatives and wider NY-based partnerships and resource mobilization objectives of the Womenโs Peace and Humanitarian Fund.
Key Functions and Accountabilities:
1 ย ย Support all aspects of WPHF NY-based event planning and meeting preparation, including all events and engagements related to private sector, pro-bono, public advocacy and donor partnerships
Draft language and conceptualize programming for event CNs, manage approval process of all event-related assets ย Coordinate with programme and partnerships colleagues to identify CSO and other UN and government event speakersย Coordinate all aspects of NY-based event planning logistics Monitor new developments, innovative practices and strategies in the realm of private sector and public advocacy engagements to secure, strengthen and deepen partnerships with traditional and non-traditional donors Support in the systematization and organization of all WPHF private sector and public advocacy outreach language and contentย2 ย ย ย Coordinate the execution of all components of WPHFโs private sector engagement strategy, contributing to the Fundโs private sector, awareness-raising and wider resource mobilization objectivesย
Manage outreach and relationships with philanthropists, foundations, corporations and pro-bono partners of WPHF Coordinate with WPHFโs third-party fiduciary partner UNF Draft and disseminate regular impact updates leveraging various channels, including WPHF newsletters and advocacy briefsย Draft regular messaging and outreach language for WPHFโs global social media platforms related to private sector and public advocacy to increase visibility of the Fundโs work and issue areas with these key target audiences Curate engaging and visual content for WPHF Instagram platform targeting private sector and general public audiences Support the continued expansion of WPHF newsletter channel and contact database Monitor and use opportunities to tap into relevant ongoing private sector initiatives and campaigns Support the regular reporting on all private sector and public advocacy activities Draft compelling pieces for effective storytelling for newsletter channels, profiling the perspective and impact WPHF-supported peacebuilders, humanitarians and human rights defenders Support the wider partnerships needs of the WPHF team, including the traditional donors in NY, as necessary Engage in targeted outreach to foundations, philanthropists, corporations, celebrities and other potential pro-bono partner contacts3 ย ย Support with coordination of all NY-based donor relations, including establishing new and strengthening existing private sector donor relationships while supporting WPHF private sector strategists in the stewarding of individual, philanthropic and corporate giving to WPHFย
Support the execution of WPHFโs private sector strategy aligned with WPHFโs wider resource mobilization, communications and advocacy plans, including coordinating events and campaigns Oversee the development of all assets related to public advocacy campaigns and events, in collaboration with the WPHF communications, advocacy and partnerships teams Explore celebrity engagement, live dialogues, calls for action and social media activations, as appropriate Support the securing and stewardship of new media and pro-bono partnerships Collaborate with visual and web designers to conceptualize assets related private sector and public advocacy campaigns4 ย ย Coordinate WPHF development operations, including organizing donor contact information, gift tracking, and monthly revenue reporting reconciliation
Manage WPHF e-CRM and track all relevant donor intelligence to cultivate donors over time and enhance their engagement and contributions Track private sector revenue reporting on a monthly basis while reconciling revenue raised across various third-party fiduciary platforms5 ย ย Coordinate with communications team on public advocacy messaging targeting all WPHF audiences, including celebrity management, private sector and general public
Support WPHF influencer outreach strategy to drive further awareness and visibility of WPHF impactย Support with other NY-based civil society coordination, public advocacy, and private sector partnerships needs of the WPHF team, as necessaryยThe incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
