UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.ย
Gender-based discrimination, cultural norms, limited access to resources, and reduced opportunities for skill development often create barriers for women to fully participate in leadership and decision-making. As a result, women continue to be underrepresented in many areas of public life.
Recognizing the importance of addressing these challenges, UN Women Myanmar has been actively working to promote gender equality and womenโs empowerment across different sectors. Through its programmes and initiatives, UN Women seeks to strengthen the capacity of women leaders to overcome barriers, build confidence, and contribute meaningfully within their communities and professional fields.
Building on its expertise in gender-responsive programming and capacity development, UN Women Myanmar aims to create a collaborative space for women stakeholders to come together, share experiences, and develop strategies for advancing womenโs leadership.
