Central to this process, and as further mandated by General Assembly resolution 72/279, a new generation of UN Resident Coordinator Offices across the world are being strengthened under the leadership of an empowered UN Resident Coordinator, the highest-ranking representative of the UN Development System at country level. UN Day, October 24, marks the anniversary of the 1945 UN Charter. Every year, we celebrate UN Day honoring the work and achievements of the United Nations and reaffirming the values of the UN Charter that have guided us for the past 80 years. The year 2025 holds added significance as the UN celebrates 80 years since its founding and also marks the beginning of the final five years toward achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The theme for 80th anniversary of the UN: โBuilding our future together.โ Duties and Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Partnerships and Development Finance Officer in the Resident Coordinator Office, the Individual Contractor will: โข Develop communications plan for the UN Day event to include social media, targeted partners, internal and external communications โข Develop and revise communication materials for UN Day 80 โข Support branding and messaging pre-event and during event, documenting highlights and key messages for immediate release โข Design content for digital platforms โข Manage live coverage of the event Qualifications/special skillsA Bachelor's degree in social sciences, communications, or related area is required. A higher (Ongoing) degree in social sciences, communications, or related area is desirable. In lieu of relevant degree, 2 years of relevant work experience could supplement. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in communications is required. Proficiency in drafting communication materials is required. Proficiency in drafting social media communication in both Arabic and English is required. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required.
