Mission and objectivesUNICEF is on the ground in over 150 countries and territories to help children survive and thrive, from early childhood through adolescence. The worldโs largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, the UNICEF Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) maximises private income to UNICEF through fundraising and sales of cards and gifts, and manages the strategic relationship with 36 UNICEF National Committees in industrialised countries. PFP also implements global strategies in child rights advocacy, communication and brand positioning in National Committee countries through a range of partnerships, including with the media, corporations, civil society and young people.
ContextThe Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the Humanitarian Funding Unit at UNICEF Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships Division in Geneva and learn about the ways in which the translated product contributes to the team's objectives. The translated document will serve as example to inspire the 33 UNICEF National Committees and 22 UNICEF fundraising Country Offices on how to be prepared internally to activate private sector fundraising when an emergency hits somewhere in the world and children are being impacted. As part of the capacity building function of our team we want to make sure that all fundraisers can benefit from the experience of the others. The deadline until when the translations must be delivered can be negotiated and mutually agreed with the selected volunteer according to his/her/their availability.
Task DescriptionWe are seeking 1 Online Volunteer to support us by translating an emergency fundraising activation protocol from German to English. To this end the Online Volunteer is asked: - To translate the document, which is 25 pages long into English - Ensure the translation is concise, in line with our communications guidelines, and fits the audience The selected Online Volunteer will be provided with the document in the original language and will receive guidance on the target audience and our communications guidelines as well as other guidance as needed.
