5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Work for the IMF. Work for the World.

The Institute for Capacity Development (ICD) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has an opening for a contractual Technical Assistance Officer (TAO) to serve as part of the Strategy and Evaluation Divisionโ€™s team (ICDSE) with a focus on results measurement. ICDSE is responsible for coordinating the overall governance and strategy of the Fundโ€™s capacity development (CD) program, which now accounts for around third of what the Fund does. The overarching objectives of the policies developed by ICDSE are aimed at (i) enhancing the impact of the Fundโ€™s CD and (ii) increasing the efficiency of CD processes and systems.

ICDSE helps achieve these objectives through acting as secretariat to the Committee on Capacity Building; leading the development and implementation of the Fundโ€™s 5-year CD strategy; coordinating the Fundโ€™s budgeting and planning cycle to facilitate improved prioritization; overseeing the framework for assessing CD performance through evaluation and results-based management; and development of discrete policy guidelines on issues like integration with surveillance/lending and the dissemination of CD output.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Division Chief/Deputy Division Chiefs, the successful candidate will focus on CD results measurement and be responsible for (i) supporting the implementation and governance of the IMFโ€™s CD results-based management (RBM) system; (ii) establishing effective processes and procedures for CD results measurement; and (iii) enhancing reporting of information on outcomes to support strategic decision making on CD initiatives. Other opportunities may include research in support of the division's responsibilities and contributing to the broader CD governance work across the Division. Specific roles and responsibilities are outlined below.
