Mission and objectivesUNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Our mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPAโs goal is to achieve universal access to sexual and reproductive health, realize reproductive rights, and reduce maternal mortality to accelerate progress on the ICPD agenda, to improve the lives of adolescents and youth, and women, enabled by population dynamics, human rights, and gender equality. In 2018, UNFPA launched efforts to achieve three transformative results, ambitions that promise to change the world for every man, woman and young person : 1.) Ending unmet need for family planning 2.) Ending preventable maternal death 3.) Ending gender-based violence and harmful practises UNFPA recognizes that innovation is a key accelerator to achieve these results. UNFPA will harness innovation to meet tomorrowโs challenges and boost its impact, especially in addressing furthest behind populations, and leverage opportunities, social capital, funding and technology by (a) strengthening the corporate innovation architecture and capabilities, (b) scaling up innovations that have proven to be effective and impactful, (c) forming new partnerships and connecting with relevant innovation ecosystems, (d) strengthening and leveraging financing for innovation, and (e) expanding communities and culture for innovation.
ContextThe expected results will be an improved English level from all UNFPA Madagascar and Comoros personnel who will have taken part in the English training programme.
Task DescriptionOur personnel mostly speak French, making it challenging for them to express themselves clearly in English. This can interfere with their professional development. The goal of the English courses is to help these personnel acquire tips on how to become fluent in English, and practice English on a more regular basis. UNFPA Madagascar and Comoros is looking for one online volunteer to conduct English class for their personnel. Specifically, this task involves finding innovative ways to conduct English lessons. The aim is to develop and provide materials and strategies that will help our colleagues to cope well with English in all four competencies : reading, writing, listening and speaking The online volunteer will do the following: 1- Develop a lesson plan by taking into account a pre-assessment that will have already been conducted to evaluate the personnel competency in English. 2- Deliver some English classes, by ensuring that all competencies are covered (listening, speaking, writing and reading). 3- At the end of the assignment, on the last lesson of each group, administer a test to the participants to assess their level after 12 weeks of lessons.
