Description

System Security Engineer in the Systems Security Engineering Section (TEC-ESS), Radio Frequency Systems Technology Division, Electrical Department, Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality.

The Systems Security Engineering Section, in full respect of and compliance with the ESA Security Framework, covers the security engineering processes, techniques and technologies relating to the security of systems from end-to-end point, the subsystems, the elements and equipment contributing or implementing specific detection, mitigation and protection measures, the analysis and methodology for vulnerability and risk assessments and the accreditation and certification processes and standards, including system design tools and equipment.

Duties

Your tasks and responsibilities will include:

โ€ข providing support to satcom projects and specifically to Secure Connectivity (IRISS), as well as to the various project reviews throughout the lifecycle of the project, including analysis and assessment of security related Requests for Deviations and Requests for Waivers;
โ€ข reviewing and contributing to system security architecture and requirements and proposing improvements;
โ€ข identifying and assessing security risks and potential vulnerabilities in security design and implementation and proposing the appropriate mitigations and required countermeasures;
โ€ข monitoring system integration, testing, verification and validation and qualification, assessing compliance with the requirements and proposing treatment plans;
โ€ข organising vulnerability assessment and penetration testing campaigns, assessing the findings, proposing mitigations and analysying collected evidence of fixed and mitigated vulnerabilities;
โ€ข as a technical officer, proposing and supervise and following research and development activities in the area of satcom security with a particular focus on technologies relevant to Secure Connectivity (IRISS), for example 5G NTN;
โ€ข continuously following technological trends and evolutions in the relevant scientific domains.
