The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is implementing a joint programย to support Bosnia and Herzegovina in the recovery of the October 2024 flood-affected areas by addressing the critical priorities of the local population sustainably. To achieve these objectives, project designs and implement feedback mechanisms through a process-oriented, community driven approach that emphasizes community engagement and recovery efforts.ย
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate/Project Coordinator and in close coordination with the National Program Officer, the incumbent will implement community recovery and community engagement activities in Social cohesion Unit of IOMโs Social Cohesion and Resilience Pillar.

- In coordination with the Senior Project Associate/Project Coordinator and other project teams implement community recovery and engagement mechanisms and approaches to support local communities.ย

- Coordinate with other project teams to ย facilitate the implementation of community recovery and engagement mechanisms of the project at the community level. ย
ย
- Support implementation of community recovery and community engagement activities focused on feedback mechanisms between local authorities and affected population.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย
- Coordinate with project teams and the project partners to boost community engagement, across all the projectโs local-community partners, leveraging the projectโs full audience in support of the projectโs overall strategy. ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย
- I Implement all assigned community recovery and community engagement activities in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with each activity Implementation Plan and the projectโs activity cycle.

- Work closely with local partners to track and report out on indicators related to overall community recovery and engagement as well as evidence of changes in knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours: support incorporation of all lessons learned into future activities.
- Provide guidance and training to new/junior staff.

- Perform any other duties as assigned. Education
- High-school diploma with ย five years of relevant working experience; or ย Completed university degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in the field of social science, political studies focused on community engagement, community recovery with ย three years of relevant working experience Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Prior experience in similar positions involving assistance in community recovery, planning and implementing community engagement activities.
- Experience in liaising local and governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.ย
- Experience in working with local communities on social cohesion is an advantage.ย
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
- Experience related to gender responsive programming, inclusion, and citizens participation, and/or community engagement ย
- Proven experience on preparation of written reports in an accurate and concise manner

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written) and in one of the three official languages spoken in BiH.
