In Namibia, we support the Government of Namibia (GRN) through capacity development interventions at the national, regional, and local levels to define solutions to key development challenges with the primary goal of contributing to the achievement of the countryโs development aspirations espoused in its Vision 2030, the National Development Plans, and Harambee Prosperity Plan II, and the 2030 Agenda along with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The UNDP Young Professional Programme (YPP) is designed for highly qualified and motivated young Namibian professionals who recently graduated from Masterโs programmes or in some cases, from Bachelorโs Honours Degree programmes. The programme provides an opportunity to start a development career through \"on-the-job' professional development that can be based on learning from UNDPโs programmes, policies, and operations. Training and learning will be part of the day-to-day activities under the UNDP Young Professional Programme(YPP).
Under the direct supervision of the Sustainable Inclusive Green Growth (SIGG) Programme Specialist,ย the YPP will support the SIGG Portfolio's daily operations, ensuring quality and consistency. Collaborating closely with the other portfolios in the Country Office (CO), the YPP will assist with project management, financial tasks, knowledge manage/sharing, and socio-economic research. Key contributions will include data collection and analysis, and developing policy briefs, articles, and opinion pieces to drive informed decision-making.
Summary of Key Functions:
Support basic research through data collection and analysis on socio-economic issues to inform policy briefs, articles, talking points, and opinion pieces. Support to the management of the CO programme (focusing on documentation, data entry, dashboard management and updates in the online systems). Administrative support to the Programme Unit (organizes meetings, workshops, handles correspondences, takes minutes and responds to incoming emails). Support resource mobilization effort (directly working with the project manager(s), analysts & specialists to create concepts, generate reports and update data). Support knowledge building and knowledge sharing relevant to the assigned project (participate in learning and South-South exchanges as applicable).Provides administrative support to the Programme Unit focusing on achievement of the following results:
Contribute to the successful delivery of programme/project activities within the SIGG portfolio in particular implementation of financial inclusion, Impact investing, entrepreneurship, MSME development and private sector programming. Successful completion of tasks assigned.ย Support the creation of requisitions for development projects. Support the review of projects' Financial Reports.Supports resource mobilisation focusing on the achievement of the following results:
Support the analysis of information on donors and the preparation of donor profiles. Support tracking and reporting on mobilized resources. Review of contributions agreement, managing contributions in Quantum.ยEnsures knowledge sharing in the CO focusing on the achievement of the following results:
Participation in training related to his/her work. Synthesis of lessons learnt and best practices in programme management and implementation. Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.Support the operations team to ensure effective implementation.ย
Assist in compiling and summarizing information and data for the formulation of project work plans. In consultation with the project team, draft annual/quarterly budgets, proposals on implementation arrangements, and other specific project-related topics or issues.ย Support project implementation in accordance with the project documents, annual work plans and other agreements between UNDP and responsible partners. Review project documents for completeness and compliance with relevant rules and procedures and identify inconsistencies for referral to supervisor. Compile, summarize and present basic information/data on a specific project and related topics or issues.ย Contribute to and support data collection for gender analysis and gender mainstreaming at the project level.ย Support administrative and logistical support to ensure successful project delivery that includes organization/coordination of project events, procurement and finance-related activities, contract management, recruitment, and coordination of field visits and project-related missions.Support partnerships and resource mobilization.ย
Support regular communication with partners, project counterparts, stakeholders, and beneficiaries.ย Support dissemination of high-quality information and visibility of the project activities among the stakeholders.ยProvide support to the effective monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on the progress of project implementation.
Support the organization of progress meetings, field, and study visits to monitor project implementation and support the organization of workshops, roundtables, and conferences within the project. Support the preparation of weekly, quarterly, annual, and other requested project reports in line with monitoring and reporting guidelines and donor requirements.ยSupport knowledge building and knowledge sharing relevant to the assigned project:
Participate in training on internal procedures for the project staff and provide support to the organization of training and other capacity-building activities as needed.ย Make sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.ย Maintain organized records of project data, field activities, case studies, human-interest stories, photographs, and other relevant documents that can be drawn upon in support of knowledge sharing and advocacy.ยProvides support to knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the CO, focusing on the achievement of the following results:

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Hons / MA/ MSc graduates majoring in either, Sustainable Finance, Development Finance, Climate Finance, Economics, International Development, Business, or related fields.
Advanced graduates with a keen interest or focus on development financing or climate financing will have preference. Economics, climate change adaptation and resilience, renewable energy, environmental economics may be considered.ย
Experience:
Professional work experience is not required, but possessing prior volunteer work experience would be an advantage.
