Terms of ReferenceThe ideal candidate will be a recent graduate, with a commitment to refugee issues and a desire to develop their skills and experience in donor relations, fundraising and communications. All candidates should be computer literate, as well as have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times. Good interpersonal skills, flexibility and attention to detail are essential.
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive team player with a strong interest in partnerships, CSR, media, protection, policy and refugee and displacement issues to complete a six-months internship with UNHCR Qatar.
You will work closely with the private sector partnerships, external relations and protection teams. Liaising with UNHCR’s wider networks, you will support the development of UNHCR’s image, agenda, and compliance across the organization, and will play your part in achieving UNHCR’s strategic ambitions; contributing to the protection of people forced to flee.
- Providing research, analysis support and producing concise summaries for different projects;
- Support in drafting concept notes and reports;
- Regular monitoring of Qatari media and social media, preparing media material and advocacy;
- Compiling assets for the country website;
- Support managers in preparing the necessary research and materials for upcoming meetings with prospects and donors;
- Support managers in market mapping exercises, providing analysis and recommendations;
- Support in organizing and monitoring of events and face to face activities as needed;
- Providing administrative support as required;
- Other tasks as required.
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of
applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a
university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO; and in the fields of
media, communications, politics, international relations, development studies, law, business or other relevant disciplines are encouraged to apply.
• Strong verbal communication and writing skills in English and Arabic.
• Strong computer skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, graphic design is
preferred).
• Must have completed at least two years in university or a fresh graduate (no more than
one year of completion of degree).
• Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory
Location: The successful candidate will be based with the team in Doha Qatar.
Arrangements for travel, including travel arrangements to and from the location where the internship
will be carried out, are the responsibilities of interns.
Allowance: monthly allowance will be provided, as per UNHCR policy.
NOTE: An individual whose father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister is a staff
member of UNHCR, including a Temporary Appointment holder or a member of the Affiliate
Workforce, is not eligible for an internship.
