Your Role
As a Strategy Officer in the Office of the Chief People Officer, you will play a critical role in advancing the teamโs strategic priorities and ensuring the division operates with clarity, alignment, and impact.
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Strategy, Planning and Management (DDSPM) and working in close partnership with the Director SPM/Chief of Staff (DSPM/CoS), you will bridge strategy incubation and leadership advising to ensure the Chief People Officerโs (CPO) time, engagements, and voice are aligned to enterprise priorities and drive meaningful impact.
This role requires sound judgment, strong analytical and communications skills, and the capability to lead all aspects of complex, cross-functional workstreams with discretion. You will manage and support strategy projects, lead the development of key deliverables for the CPO, and ensure travel and communications are strategically connected to the divisionโs rhythm of business.
What Youโll Do
Strategy Development and Incubation
- Partner with the People Teamโs leadership and Strategy, Planning & Management (SPM) colleagues, as well as teams across the division, to advance priorities and ensure strategic alignment and coherence.
- Lead or contribute to the design, scoping, and execution of high-priority strategy projects โ from defining strategic questions and analytical approaches to generating insights that inform decisions and drive action.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the function and the foundation to develop and refine strategic frameworks, approaches, and tools that strengthen planning, execution, and learning.
- Support the development of high-impact materials and insights to inform the CPOโs participation in executive leadership forums, board engagements and action groups, ensuring the People perspective is represented strategically, clearly, and with compelling evidence.
- Translate strategic priorities into actionable plans and milestones, track progress against goals, and collaborate with the DDSPM, CoS, and SPM colleagues.
- Conduct and synthesize quantitative and qualitative analyses to clarify complex issues, surface trends, and find opportunities for the People Team to enhance its impact.
- Facilitate inclusive collaboration and alignment processes with stakeholders across divisions, encouraging shared understanding, momentum, and accountability around strategic initiatives.
Strategic Communications and Deliverables
- Build and maintain a strategic communications plan for the People Division that aligns with key organizational priorities and amplifies the CPOโs voice across the enterprise.
- Lead the development of clear, compelling materials that reflect the CPOโs priorities and perspectives, including presentations, talking points, written communications, and divisional updates.
- Partner with the DDSPM, CoS, and CPOโs Executive Assistant (EA) to design and maintain workback plans and deliverables that integrate seamlessly with the divisionโs Rhythm of Business (ROB).
- Support the creation of high-quality deliverables for the CPO, including Executive Leadership Team materials, Board updates, divisional reports, and other enterprise-wide communications.
- Coordinate internal and cross-divisional communications related to the People Teamโs strategic priorities and change initiatives.
Leadership Engagement and Travel Management
- In collaboration with EA and CoS, manage the CPOโs annual travel portfolio, including trip planning, strategic framing, briefing materials, and post-trip reporting.
- Ensure all CPO engagements (internal and external) are intentional, aligned with foundation priorities, and employed for maximum strategic impact.
- Develop detailed workback plans to prepare for key engagements and synchronize trip planning and communications with the divisionโs overall ROB.
- Exercise the highest level of discretion and judgment in handling sensitive information, representing leadership perspectives, and handling confidential materials.
Operational Excellence and Division Effectiveness
- Support the continuous improvement of systems and processes that enhance coordination, transparency, and performance.
- Provide project management and analytical support for cross-divisional initiatives, identifying dependencies, risks, and opportunities for improved collaboration and efficiency.
- Contribute to strengthening the divisionโs rhythm of business, knowledge management, and cross-team alignment processes.
Your Experience
We are seeking a professional who thrives at the intersection of strategy, execution, and leadership advising. You bring analytical rigor, operational excellence, and the ability to communicate with clarity and discretion in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. Additionally, we seek:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in strategy, management consulting, organizational development, or a related field.
- Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects and coordinate deliverables for senior executives.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and structured problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives.
- Capable of handling confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
- Strong organizational skills, adept at balancing multiple priorities, developing workback plans, and aligning execution with enterprise rhythms.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and collaboration across differences to strengthen collective impact.
- Experience in global or matrixed organizations preferred.
- Advanced degree in business, public policy, organizational psychology, or a related field preferred, with equivalent experience considered.
- Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.

The salary range for this role is $140,200 to $210,200 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences in Seattle and Washington D.C., where our offices are located. The range for this role in these locations is $152,800 to $229,200 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission. New hires salaries are typically between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidateโs job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
