The program of Enteric and Respiratory Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division conduct research under vaccine trial unit in multiple vaccine studies like RSV, Polio, HEV, Flu, Nipah vaccine etc. This program is to achieve icddr,b goal for controlling enteric and respiratory infections, detecting and controlling emerging and re-emerging infections with the collaboration of the relevant government and non-government stakeholders.

Brief Description of Position:

The Statistical Officer will report to the Assistant Scientist and will be mainly responsible for planning, designing, managing and analysing research data. The role will support statistical modelling, study design, database management and preparation of high-quality analytical outputs that contribute to evidence-based decision-making in Vaccine trial unit projects. The specific areas of responsibility include:

Design and manage data collection tools and research databases, ensuring accuracy, completeness and integrity of data collected through field studies; Conduct statistical analyses using software such as SPSS, STATA, or R, Python and generate tables, figures, and reports to support research findings; Assist in study design and sampling strategies, including sample size calculation, analysis and development of data collection tools; Work with the investigator to interpret analytical findings and contribute to research dissemination, including manuscripts and conference presentations; Develop research methods and tools in consultation with the PI; Prepare data analysis reports and support manuscript preparation, presentations and grant applications; Ensure confidentiality and handle ethically all study data in accordance with icddr,b’s research and data protection policies; Contribute to the training and capacity building of team members in data management and basic statistical techniques;

Required qualification and experience:

Master's in Statistics/ Applied Statistics/ Biostatistics from a reputed university with good academic records; Minimum 3 years of experience in statistical data analysis within infectious disease, epidemiological or public health research settings; Preference will be given to candidates with experience in clinical trial data analysis (Vaccine effectiveness and safety analysis) Familiarity with epidemiological study design including sample size estimation, regression modeling and interpretation of field data.

Contract Type and duration:

CSA basis for 4 (four) months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits:

Tk. 62,895/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances; Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
