Position Overview
PADF Curaรงao Office is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join our team and assist in the implementation of a Department of State-funded project that provides life-saving assistance and long-term integration support to migrants in Aruba and Curaรงao, encouraging their permanence on the islands.
Reporting to the Project Director, the Social Worker will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day implementation of project activities and providing operational assistance to the Program team. The Social Worker will work closely with PADFโs community promoters and collaborate regularly with PADFโs Social Worker in Aruba to exchange best practices and strengthen coordination across both islands. The incumbent will actively engage in fieldwork, including outreach and community engagement, facilitation of meetings, and conducting needs assessments to identify and address beneficiary needs. The Social Worker in Curaรงao will also support the implementation, follow-up, and monitoring of project activities in coordination with project partners and stakeholders. This position requires close collaboration with beneficiaries, government counterparts, and community-based organizations to ensure the effective and timely delivery of humanitarian assistance and support services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesย
Field Support:
Provide direct assistance and counseling services to migrants and vulnerable host community members and families in need, including case management and referrals to appropriate services and resources. Conduct home visits when deemed necessary to assess and follow up on beneficiariesโ situations. Deliver support to migrants and vulnerable host families in marginalized communities across Curaรงao, including but not limited to Buena Vista, Sta. Maria, Kanga, Dein, Otrobanda, Wishi, Marchena, Brievengat, Fleur de Marie, Juan Hato, and Koraal Specht. Collaborate with local organizations, service providers, and government agencies to coordinate and enhance assistance and resources for migrants and vulnerable host populations. Develop and implement community-based activities and outreach initiatives, in collaboration with PADFโs community promoters, to promote awareness and accessibility of PADFโs services. Maintain accurate documentation of all cases while ensuring confidentiality and adherence to ethical standards and principles of humanitarian assistance. Stay informed of relevant policies, best practices, and emerging developments in the fields of social work, protection, and humanitarian response.Communications and Compliance:
Liaise with other program, finance, and administrative teams within the organization and contribute to the organizationโs overall interdepartmental effectiveness.ย Support internal PADF program administrative procedures and ensure compliance with PADF policies and procedures.ยDocumentation and Support:
Assist in ensuring that all program documentation is current and complete.ย Assist with drafts of documents and communications for donors, partners, and other stakeholders/local organizations. Maintain program tracking documentation, collect key data (disaggregated data from beneficiaries). Support projects as needed with correspondence, news monitoring, and other tasks as assigned.ย Provide support to proposal development processes as needed.ย Performs other duties as assigned.Competenciesย

Bachelorโs degree in social work or related field. Three to five (3-5) years of experience working in social services, humanitarian assistance, or related field. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse populations. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and case management principles. Knowledge of human rights issues and ability to identify related problems in their political, ethnic, racial, gender equality and socio-economic dimensions. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment. Fluency in Spanish, English and Papiamento (spoken and written).ยPreferred Qualificationsย ย ย
Experience and working knowledge on Migration and Refugees in the Region and the organisms that assist those individuals such as DOS/PRM, UNHCR, IOM, etc. is ideal. Experience in the international development or humanitarian work with experience in the sectors of human rights, international protection, livelihoods, education and gender programming or any other relevant thematic area. Preferably with direct field experience in Curaรงao, and/or Latin America and the Caribbean. Dutch proficiency is an asset.ย
