5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances childrenโ€™s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child but know this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges girls and vulnerable children face. We support childrenโ€™s rights from birth until they reach adulthood and we enable children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

For over 85 years, we have rallied other determined optimists to transform the lives of all children in more than 80 countries.

We wonโ€™t stop until we are all equal.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled technical accountant to join Plan Internationalโ€™s Accounting Standards and Accounting Policies (ASAP) project team. In this role, you will independently review specific areas of accounting for compliance with US GAAP and FRS 102, identify opportunities for policy enhancements, and collaborate with internal teams to implement necessary changes.

Key responsibilities include evaluating current accounting practices, preparing technical documentation to support policy updates, revising policy guidelines, and delivering training to ensure consistent understanding and application across the organization. You will also work closely with business teams to navigate the practical implications and challenges of implementing changes to accounting policies and processes.
