The Genome Centre at icddr,b is a cutting-edge facility specializing in genomic research, pathogen surveillance, and public health genomics. Leveraging advanced sequencing technologies, it investigates infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and beneficial microbes, both in Bangladesh and globally. The centreโs scientists lead and collaborate on research as principal investigators, co-PIs, and co-investigators, partnering with national and international institutions as well as other divisions within icddr,b. Additionally, it plays a vital role in outbreak response, pathogen genomics, and strengthening genomic research capacity.
Position Description:
The Senior Research Officer will report to the Associate Scientist and will be responsible to conduct advanced bioinformatics analyses, including sequence data processing and interpretation. Key responsibilities include developing and optimizing bioinformatics pipelines, troubleshooting analytical workflows, and contributing to research design through protocol development. The Senior Research Officer will play an integral role in knowledge dissemination by preparing scientific manuscripts and presentations. All activities will be performed in strict accordance with approved research protocols while upholding the organization's ethical standards and operational guidelines to ensure research excellence and integrity. Key Responsibilities:
Required qualifications and experience:
M Sc. in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Genetic Engineering; 5 years of relevant laboratory experience.Location: Dhaka
Contract Type and Duration:
Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 5 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.Salary & Benefits:
Tk.79,569/-(consolidated) per month, inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.Notes of attention:
