Duties andย Responsibilities:
Coordinate in pathogen collection from different geographical and hotspot locations together with project partners.Characterization and pathotyping of pathogens at IRRI-SAH and partner location for the targeted diseases and pests.Support genotypic and phenotypic characterization of 3K subsets/elite breeding lines/landraces together with project collaborators and IRRI-SA Hub.Support genotyping of mapping populations/germplasm/segregating populations with genome-wide SNPs/haplotype-specific markers for all the collaborative NARES and other centers.Actively participate in the strategic planning and research meeting of Rice Breeding Planform and Rice Breeding SA Cluster.Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Requirement:
Masters in Plant Breeding, Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related fields.Work experience of 4 years in rice breeding.Proven ability to implement projects for crop improvement.Extensive experience in molecular breeding in rice.Respectable publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
