Organizational Context
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the worldโs largest humanitarian organization, with a network of 191-member National Societies (NSs). The overall aim of the IFRC is โto inspire, encourage, facilitate, and promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities by NSs with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering and thereby contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world.โ The IFRC works to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people before, during and after disasters, health emergencies and other crises.
IFRC is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Movement), together with its member National Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The work of the IFRC is guided by the following fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.
IFRC is led by its Secretary General, and has its Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The Headquarters are organized into three main Divisions: (i) National Society Development and Operations Coordination; (ii) Global Relations, Humanitarian Diplomacy and Digitalization; and (iii) Management Policy, Strategy and Corporate Services.
IFRC has five regional offices in Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, Europe, and the Americas. IFRC also has country cluster delegation and country delegations throughout the world. Together, the Geneva Headquarters and the field structure (regional, cluster and country) comprise the IFRC Secretariat.
IFRC has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct that is incompatible with the aims and objectives of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, including sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment and other forms of harassment, abuse of authority, discrimination, and lack of integrity (including but not limited to financial misconduct). Job Purpose
Reporting to the Global Lead, Procurement, this role shall ensure effective Quality Assurance, the application of Good Distribution Practices (GDP), WHO Model Quality Assurance for Procurement Agencies (WHO MQAS) procedures in compliance with the IFRCโs Procurement Manual quality requirements for medical supplies. The incumbent will also support the localization strategy for medical procurement.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Support the operations on topics related to the quality assurance of medical supplies (pharmaceuticals and medical devices). Actively participate in the effective implementation of the quality management system and the policies related to medical supplies. Work in close coordination with regional procurement teams, the health department, and operations. This role supports compliance with IFRC supply chain standards related to medical supplies globally, ensuring that global and local policies and procedures are conveyed to end users in the procurement of medical supplies.
Key Accountabilities
- Support in the implementation of the revised Procurement and QA procedures for medical supplies in line with IFRC quality requirements of medical supplies and Good Distribution Practices.
Duties applicable to all staff

Degree in pharmacy, health science or related field. Masterโs degree in drug regulatory affairs or pharmaceutical quality assurance. Required.Experience
Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience in managing pharmaceutical operations in Humanitarian sector and/or commercial sector. Required. Experience of pharmaceutical markets, in low-medium income. Preferred. Red Cross/Red Crescent knowledge and experience. Required.
