The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigeria nationals for the position below at the Institute\u2019s Headquarters in Ibadan.
Position: Senior Nursing Officer
Contract: 3-year renewable contract
Location: Ibadan
Closing Date: 13 November 2024
DUTIES:
Checking of vital signs, e.g. Temperature, Pulse Respiration and blood pressure; etc). Perform wound dressing on routine and emergency basis. Facilitate health education to all categories of staff. Conduct eye lavage, ear syringing and giving of injections. Setting up of intravenous infusion as the need arises. Conduct immunization of mothers and babies. Conduct simple eye testing using snellen\u2019s chart. Provide clinical consultations for simple clinical cases whenever the need arises (especially after normal hours). Carry out drainage of abscesses and suturing of some lacerated wounds. Register patients\u2019 attendance every day. Assist in the management of very ill patients. Assist in updating of yellow cards to those who are travelling outside the country. Assist in the collection of vaccines from State regulatory authorities. Carry out washing, autoclaving and storage of instruments used in nursing care. Replenish the clinic emergency box and resuscitation trolley as need arises. Carry out costing and billing for drugs and other services. Perform any other duties as may be necessitated by the absence of any other member of the health team. Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.Requirements
QUALIFICATION:
BSc in Nursing and Registered Midwife Certificate with any two (2) of the following:
\u00b7 Diploma in Public/Occupational Health Nursing.
\u00b7 Family Planning Certificate.
\u00b7 Accident & Emergency Nursing Diploma.
\u00b7 Post Basic Nursing Certificate in Theatre techniques.
\u00b7 Post Basic Nursing Certificate in Pediatric Nursing.
\u00b7 Diploma in Health Education.
Minimum of 5 years relevant working experiences in at least three of the following areas:
\u00b7 Accident and emergency unit.
\u00b7 Outpatient department and medical wards.
\u00b7 Family Planning Unit/Family Health Unit.
\u00b7 Maternal & Child Health Unit.
COMPETENCIES:
The ideal candidate must:
Possess good organizational skills and demonstrate ability to work under pressure. Be able to carry out basic laboratory procedures such as rapid malaria test, urinalysis and blood sugar using a glucometer. Computer Literacy and is essential for this position.Benefits
