Senior Multimedia Technician(G6)

This selection exercise may be used to generate a roster of pre-approved candidates to address future staffing needs for similar functions in any of the Departments and Offices of the Organization.

Organizational Setting

The Director General's Office (DGO) provides leadership and coordination for all IAEA activities at the executive level for meeting Member States' needs, and achieving a one-house approach and a results-based management. The Office for Public Information and Communication provides objective, accurate and timely information about the IAEA and nuclear developments that fosters public understanding of the IAEA's global roles. It also provides advice to the Director General on relations with the media and organizes press briefings. The Office coordinates the communication activities for the rest of the house and assists in the media aspects of major IAEA events and conferences. The Media, Multimedia and Public Outreach Section has corporate responsibility for relations with the media and the public, as well as for producing audio and video materials to promote the IAEA’s activities.

Main Purpose

The Senior Multimedia Technician films, edits, writes scripts and produces videos on IAEA activities for distribution on various IAEA platforms, including the official web site and social media channels. He/she contributes to raising the profile and visibility of the IAEA, increasing public and media awareness about its work.

Functions / Key Results Expected

• Prepare relevant video material requested by internal stakeholders and outside sources (TV stations etc);
• Produce high-quality and visually compelling videos, collect and edit footage from IAEA headquarters and the field; including quality sound recording and selection of suitable sound effects and final sound mix, and optimum lighting (by operating equipment and using advanced tools and software).
• Maintain and expand a digital archiving system for Agency video films and footage;
• Work as camera person on site using broadcast quality video equipment to cover Agency events, high-level statements and gather other material for films, travelling as necessary outside the duty station.
• Operate equipment at professional level, including good quality sound recording and lighting; 
• Identify and select suitable sound effects/music as required, and create final sound mix; 
• Ensure that the live broadcast studio is properly maintained and readily available for use; record broadcasts and video messages and prepare for transmission; provide technical support for live broadcast interviews by satellite;
• Keep up to date with technical innovations and alert managers to possible improvements or upgrades as appropriate; oversee the installation of new equipment and ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and available for use at very short notice.

  Qualifications, Experience and Language skills

  • Completed secondary education.
  • Post-secondary qualification in video and other multimedia techniques is an asset, as is high-level qualifications from an institute or technical school in such techniques.
  • Minimum of six years of practical multimedia experience and knowledge of relevant filming techniques and equipment are required, including work experience in the audio/visual field, three of which should be in multimedia production.
  • Excellent knowledge of camera work.
  • Experience in supporting broadcast journalists desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
  • Administrative skills test to IAEA standard might be part of the selection process.

    Remuneration

    The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at EUR 66981 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), 6 weeks' annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance.
