GGGI began its operations in the Solomon Islands in 2019, focusing on capacity building, renewable energy, inclusive development, and climate change adaptation. GGGI is now implementing the Strengthening Inclusive Adaptation Capacity in Solomon Islands (SIAC-SI) project, which aims to enhance the countryโ€™s capacity to adapt to climate change through systematic vulnerability assessments, development and implementation of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and resource mobilization.

To ensure effective integration of gender equality, disability, and social inclusion principles across all project activities, GGGI seeks a qualified and experienced Senior Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Associate to join the Solomon Islands team. This position will play a critical role in embedding GEDSI considerations in the SIAC-SI project while supporting other GGGI initiatives in the country.

PURPOSE

  • The Senior GEDSI Associate will lead the integration of gender equality, disability, and social inclusion into the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the SIAC-SI project. The position requires expertise in promoting inclusive approaches, building capacity among stakeholders, and ensuring that GEDSI considerations are central to project activities.
  • In addition to supporting the SIAC-SI project, the Senior GEDSI Associate will provide guidance and technical support for GEDSI mainstreaming in other GGGI initiatives in the Solomon Islands. This position reports directly to the Senior Program Officer and collaborates closely with the Regional GEDSI Specialist and local stakeholders.

    ENGAGEMENT

    • Collaborate with the Senior Program Officer and project team to identify opportunities for GEDSI integration and capacity building.
    • Work closely with the Regional GEDSI Specialist to align project activities with GGGIโ€™s corporate GEDSI strategy.
    • Engage with government counterparts, civil society organizations, and development partners to promote inclusive approaches in climate adaptation and green growth initiatives.
    • Facilitate consultations and workshops with stakeholders to ensure GEDSI perspectives are incorporated into project activities.
    • Establish partnerships with local organizations and networks to enhance project impact and reach.

      DELIVERY

      • Develop and implement the GEDSI action plan for the SIAC-SI project, ensuring alignment with project objectives and national priorities.
      • Conduct GEDSI training sessions for project staff, government counterparts, and stakeholders to build capacity and awareness.
      • Ensure the collection and analysis of gender-disaggregated data to inform project planning and decision-making.
      • Develop communication materials and case studies to showcase GEDSI achievements and lessons learned.
      • Monitor and evaluate the impact of GEDSI interventions, providing regular updates and reports to internal and external stakeholders.
      • Support the integration of GEDSI principles into the design and implementation of other GGGI projects in the Solomon Islands.
      • Maintain regular communication with the Country Representative, project team and Regional GEDSI Specialist.

        REQUIREMENTS

        QUALIFICATIONS

        • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field. A Masterโ€™s degree is an advantage.
        • At least 5-7 years of professional experience in GEDSI-focused roles, preferably within international organizations or the development sector.
        • Demonstrated expertise in GEDSI mainstreaming, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement.
        • Experience in designing and implementing GEDSI strategies and action plans.
        • Knowledge of the socio-political context of the Solomon Islands and the Pacific region is highly desirable.
        • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of Solomon Islands Pijin is an advantage.

          FUNCTIONAL

          • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify barriers to inclusion and develop actionable solutions.
          • Excellent facilitation and training skills, with experience in delivering GEDSI-related capacity building.
          • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
          • Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government, civil society, and marginalized groups.
